    iPhone charge/streaming solution

Any suggestions for hooking up an iPhone so it can charge/stream with the OEM business radio setup? Thanks.

edit: my car is 01 but I upgraded to a newer business CD many years ago so i could get satellite radio (not sure exact year)

I am actually making one myself now. Question: do you need to put a kill switch on it when phone is not charging or it is ok to keep the charger to be powered on while ignition is on?

Most chargers will not consume (almost) any power if there's no phone being charged, so no kill switch is necessary. However, for the one I installed in my car, I did install a kill switch so that I could choose when I wanted the phone to charge, since wireless charging does make things a bit hot.

Bluebus seems cool but if I have XM already hooked up it seems like I can't have both? I think what I am looking for is simply a cord / input that could both charge and play off my iphone at the same time, maybe via the aux ?

Big fan of the GROM units. I have my iPhone 11 hard wired from the Grom device that's plugged into the CD changer input in the trunk. Ran a wire under the carpet rear to front. Works flawlessly, steering wheel controls enabled, for about $150.

+2 on the BlueBus (it's my baby)

But for real, the AUX works pretty well if you're okay with cords? Still, the BlueBus uses a higher quality DAC, so it tends to sound better than AUX.

Sirius and the BlueBus get along just fine. You just need a slave cable, which BMW sells.

Bluebus gets you better sound quality for music, way better sounding sound quality for speakerphone (and free bluetooth speakerphone if you don't currently have it), song metadata displayed on the radio/nav unit, functional steering wheel/head unit controls (next/previous track, play pause), siri/google assistant to control things without looking at your phone, and wireless connectivity. I can't imagine choosing an aux input cable over it... not to mention it's pretty unlikely your next phone will even have an aux out jack (kind of amazing your current one does).

Plus the bluebus enables some nice modern touches, like triple blink turn signals.

Ok so Bluebus sounds pretty cool. What can I use to charge the phone at the same time? This is an issue for me since I'm often running low on battery and BT will only suck more juice out of it. I don't really need a wireless solution so am ok with a cable.

How hard was the install? I'm admittedly not very handy.
