Hey lets talk about some possible good news. SuperSprint. Everyone’s favorite header

Have been reading reviews and seeing photos of extremely poor quality control in the Supersprint product. This has been for a good while now. In all honesty, it’s turned me away from the brand and the consideration to run their headers. A few days ago, I noticed a post from Supersprint which I saw as something promising. Its appears they’ve maybe identified the lack of quality control, and changed up some fabricating partnerships. From the few photos I saw on their FB page, the headers all looked TIG welded, and of good quality.

Lets call this a step in the right direction, and certainly hopeful for such an iconic brand. Especially among the E46 community! I remember on one of the big Supersprint headers thread, there was an employee of supersprint who would chime in on the information side, not the organizing of group buys side.

My question (s) to anyone in the ‘know;’ Once these enter mass production, how do we differentiate between the new fabbed sets and old leftover junk (other then the obvious looking @ quality of welds), which by that point is too late because you’ve purchased. Given the age of the platform, in relative terms, not sure how many owners are going to spend the big $$ bucks Supersprint calls for. That said, if this thread does gain traction, and the above questions are clarified, could be a perfect GB opportunity. Even if not, glad to see Supersprint openly announcing this partnership and restoring the quality its brand is known for.

Do we know this was implemented after the recent stringof issues? Or before therefore being the cause. Could this cause extra warping?

When you spend 2k for MIG welded headers.

Even Megan Racing has better welds.

This was posted on AUG7th. Going off recent timeline of events and the ongoing global pandemic would lead me to believe that this was after. But it's a valid question forsure, and exactly why I asked how we will be able to differentiate.

But from all the "poor quality" thread posts, I don't remember the welding looking as tight as these. Maybe some of the guys who had issues can post pics of theirs NEW to compare.

Hm. Not entirely sure what photos your looking at. But entitled to your own opinion. Really not trying to make this a "VS" thread. Just wanted to shine light on the subject in case guys had more info.

From pics of my V1’s in 2015. Not the best angles but it shows the flange welds a little. I didn’t notice it at the time but these appear to be two different types of welding?

Just be careful. I would not do it if you don’t know who that person is and he if he is not a part of the bmw community. Everyone is out to make a quick buck nowadays due to covid19 and I do t became them if it’s genuine and guaranteed. But nothing is guaranteed these days. Be careful and stay safe.

Wait for the Black Friday sales.
