    Separating SSv1 slip fits.

Anyone have any tricks to seperating the slip fits that connect the SSv1 headers to the ss section 1?

Feel like I'm an expert at this after taking them on and off a million times over the years 馃槀.. Couple tips:
    • Fully remove the allen bolts and wedge the split joint open with a screwdriver
    • Hit the joint with some heat and penetrating oil
    • Break them loose by rotating them up and down first
    • Once rotating, pull them out while rotating to get them off
    • When you re-install use some anti-seeze

Ok great I will give that a try. Thank you! Also helps to know this struggle is normal and is doable.

Just some penetrate and wiggle/rotate back and forth works.

Applying some anti-seize to the header pipe ends will help with removal next time too. I put anti-seize on the bolts too as they're not iconel or really high quality.

A shot of WD-40 will work equally as well

No, it doesn鈥檛. The function of WD-40 is to displace water. He doesn鈥檛 need to do that.

Last few comments reminded me of a friend who a long time ago used wd40 to "lube" his chain on his time trial bike. Nono.

This sparked an idea to flip the bolt to the threaded side and put a thin peice of metal in between. So when I tighten the bolt it now spreads the clamp.
