Catless Header, rasp pipe, stock section 2 & 3 sound request

Is anyone running this setup? I am very tempted to go ahead with catless headers. I don't want a super loud exhaust as I've had a Gruppe M section 3 on my old M3. I just want the power and maybe a little more noise from the exhaust. It's insanely quiet now.

    Here’s a video I took a year ago. It’s super short sorry.

Wonderful inside the car. Outside pretty raspy.

Don't rip out the stock headers for some power and sound unless the plan is to get a good metallic catted section 1. A DINAN muffler with the stock or euro setup gets it a little deeper and makes a good noise.

+1 on this. Speaking from personal experience, I highly recommend keeping quality cats somewhere in the system (ideally in section 1 like Euro cars).

So are you guys running a resonated section 2 then if you have cats in the section 1?

This is actually what I've been trying to figure out, of course so much of people's experiences was lost with M3F. I'm trying to figure out the effect on rasp if I replace a Status Gruppe resonated section 1 with a catted section 1 (no resonators).

This sounds really good. So no resonators anywhere?

The stock section 2 which has a resonator from factory. The ideal E46 M3 setup is headers, catted section 1, resonated dual-pipe section 2, and muffler just like factory euro cars. A single x-pipe resonated section 2 will change the tone to almost no rasp when fully warmed up.

Starting from scratch, I'd just get an airbox and skip the exhaust altogether, lol. Also, maybe gut one or two chambers of the stock muffler and add some slightly larger tips.

Man, i've been hunting for these answers for a while thus why haven't stuck headers on yet, curious to see what the answer(s) are

Thanks. I've already got an Eventuri. Looking for more power without making it sound like shit.

An SGT section 2 resonated x-pipe just about totally elimated any rasp for me. You only hear it briefly around 2800 rpm and can easily drive around it. I put my system together on a budget and the setup is Fabspeed headers ($600 black friday, Fabspeed catted section 1 ($700 m3f member), SGT section 2 ($425) out to RE El Diablo ($700 m3f member). It's a wicked sound especially at high rpm but I wouldn't run it daily. I'll go with a much quieter section 3 when I do a CSL box.
