Yeah Robert doesn’t have that car anymore though.Originally posted by Slideways View Post
My mechanic (Russ at Swift Performance) uses Motor Milk and recommends their oil.
But I like keeping my engine on the same brew (Castrol)…

Ok so wait.....I've been out of the game for a bit (car has been sitting, purchased another house, etc.). So BMW went BACK to Castrol, then BACK to Shell? I thought it was just Castrol to Shell and it's been ever since lol.Originally posted by 0-60motorsports View Post
Im not going "back" to castrol, i just buy whichever oil has a good price and till now its just been castrol. Since BMW moved back to them i got a BMW Castrol oil change kit as it was cheap from FCP.
Now since we have Motul locally and i already purchased from them it might become the norm to use Motul.
As long as im not running SHITTYMoly it's all good LOL

The history of the BMW-Castrol-Shell oil supply shifts tracks as follows:Originally posted by Slideways View Post
Shell after 2025- 1999–2014: Castrol was the long-standing partner.
- 2015–2021: BMW switched to Shell.
- 2021–2026: BMW returned back to Castrol/BP for a five-year contract.
- February 2026: That five-year contract expired, and BMW switched dealerships back to Shell.
Well Damn it. Castrol supercar it is then or Motul.

So that's why Castrol 10w60 got affordable this year.
I was wondering why 5w50 and 10w60 euro Edge can be bought for $60 (6L pack) on Amazon.
I was using Motul, the standard 10w60 at first then their fancier Ester 5w50 becuase 5L jugs were about $40-50 for a while there, but then this past year they shot up to $80 so I switched back to Castrol. I have to buy 14L per year with S54 & S65.DD: /// 2011.5 Jerez/bamboo E90 M3 · DCT · Slicktop · Instagram

When you say LM, do you mean LiquiMoly? I remember, because the irony is so strong, that LiquiMOLY doesn't have any molybdenum disulfide like many oil add packs do. Motul does have some, from oil analysis I've seen.Originally posted by TexaZ3 View PostMotul is fine, though lack of moly additives is a concern over LM, especially on older bearings. Motul is very low in volatility/evaporation loss compared to LM, which results in less consumption, but LM's low temp flow would always be something I prefer over not topping off my oil.DD: /// 2011.5 Jerez/bamboo E90 M3 · DCT · Slicktop · Instagram

Castrol did some rebranding for the US market. The former TWS and Supercar brandings are now Edge Euro Car. I don't remember if there was a plain Edge 10w60 in the US market, but that plain Edge in other countries was different than the old TWS..Originally posted by BCEXP View PostI thought the Edge version was the version that wasn't spec'ed for S54s?
I remember it used to be TWS and everyone kept saying don't use Edge.
