    Fog Light Replacements

    Hi Folks,

One of my fog lights has gone cloudy (seems moisture is in it somehow), so it's time to replace them. The factory are the fluted lens type. My car is essentially stock, except for the suspension (Ohlins R/T).

I have two questions. First, is there a practical, non-aesthetic function of the clear lens vs. the fluted lens? Despite researching this, I have not been able to come up with an answer. Second, I like the look of the stock car, and I don't want to materially change that. I don't use the fogs much, but functionally is it worth an upgrade to an LED system, and if so, is there one that retains the a close look to stock? The only option that I have seriously looked at so far is the Morimoto XB LEDs.

    I'd appreciate input.

    Thanks,

    Andrew

I have the Morimoto LEDs but light output is a lot less compared to halogens/stocks. Updates the car none the less...

I personally really like the Morimoto XB LED Fog Lights. They are bright and have a nice level output.

You can apply some yellow film for this affect. 😎

I also recently installed the Morimoto LED fog lights.. The quality of the housings is top-notch.. not like you typically see from China.
The light output is very great.. if you have them adjusted correctly (Many don't) Color temp matches 6000k bulbs perfectly. I would highly recommend it.

I agree in some regard. When you point them at the wall, they look bright, but in real use, light output appears less than the stock halogens. One of my theories is that the Morimotos have a clean top cut-off as to not blind drivers ahead. As a result, the scattered light output from the stock fogs makes it appear brighter. The brightness is further reduced if your car is lower than stock height. You can aim the Morimotos higher, but then that defeats the purpose of the cut-off.
