I've always been under the impression that any impact to the tow hook or a tow hook license plate holder could damage the frame of the car. Also, why would you want to ruin your beautiful car with a front plate?
I keep a cheap one in my trunk in case I ever park somewhere that I might get ticketed. If I do, I quickly put it on and take it off when I leave. No need for quality if its job is to sit in my trunk 99% of the time lol.
I was briefly using Milworks with the quick release due to the good reviews but it rattled like a POS. Tried to contact them but guy was nowhere to be found...had to dispute the payment to resolve things.
I then bought the Cravespeed which worked fine. No need for front plate where I live so I don't use it anymore.
All jobs done as diy - clutch, rod bearings, rear subframe rebush, vanos, headers, cooling, suspension, etc.
PM for help in NorCal. Have a lot of specialty tools - vanos, pilot bearing puller, bushing press kit, valve adjustment, fcab, wheel bearing, engine support bar, etc.
Inside the glass or outside? It's a danger to keep it loose on the dash plus I don't think cops like that spot.
Zip tie-ing it to our lower grill in the bumper would be super easy/fast, but don't want to block oil cooler!
Inside, I curved the plate a bit so it contours to the shape of the glass and slide it in between the glass and the dashboard in the corner, so it is secure there.

I keep my front plate in the glovebox and pop it on the passenger dash when parking somewhere public or in the suburbs.
I spent a while searching for a well-made tow hook plate holder (Rennline has a good one) before I realized that the Chicago police couldn't give a shit.
