Then why do they sell the bilstein hd/eibach kit if they don’t work. 😂

FYI, I just opened my H&Rs coilover struts and the bump stop was even longer than the OE one (70mm vs 45), for a system that drops the car an inch it makes no sense. Again, it probably was “tuned” that way, but that doesn’t make it optimal or compliant.
my car with new linear springs and modified bump stops ride better and it doesn’t bottom out, I gained 1.25 inch of travel from road ride height to touching the stops, whereas before I was constantly riding on them (even when my ride height was set to stock), at 1inch drop I would be well into the stops. This made the ride very bouncy
H&R coils are Bilstein shocks (they are even stamped with Bilstein branding)
there is no way around this, and people who say the ride fine are lying or they ride on smooth roads. Stiff damper, plus stiffer spring plus riding on the stops cannot be compliant. Stock, the car has at least 1/2 of travel before engaging stops.
take it apart and do some measurements and math and you will see.
and to the question above, imagine mine was a coilover kit, and had all this flaws, the B12 is nothing more than a parts bin setup, that “matched” thing is marketing BS as both parts can be had separate.Last edited by maupineda; 10-29-2020, 04:09 AM.

No, they only change the overall height of the complete strut assembly, typically lower VS stock, so if shorter, you can lower the car without affecting travel.DD: /// 2011.5 Jerez/bamboo E90 M3 · DCT · Slicktop · Instagram

You're moving the top of the strut shaft upwards OR you can think of it like pulling the car lower without compressing the shock shaft (no loss of travel).
So my struts don't even compress much at all with the car on the ground. The springs are 7" and pretty light at 325, so there's lots of sag, but that's on the spring. And that large amount of sag gets me to 13.5" ride height. Then, loaded, the spring compressed, I still have a "stock" amount of strut shaft travel and because I have a 7" spring, It won't block or bind on me through the full range of travel.Last edited by Tbonem3; 10-29-2020, 09:12 AM.DD: /// 2011.5 Jerez/bamboo E90 M3 · DCT · Slicktop · Instagram

Well, you can't get more travel than stock, that's dictated by the strut. But what you can do is modify your stack so you're not compressing (much, if at all) the strut at rest.
Most setups COMPROMISE travel. With what we've done, we're not making more travel, but we're not eating it up either.
