I managed to limp on and off the freeway ~20 miles over 2 hours… had to keep pulling off to the side with hazard lights and letting the car cool down just enough to get the SMG cog light to turn off.

Needless to say the clutch fan is back in the car and I now have a clutch fan delete cap to give away!

I have another stubby sitting on a shelf in the garage if you want it.

From my experience the clutch fan works very well. Last year i replaced the fan clutch and my summer time coolant temps cooled down dramatically. The coolant temps used to reach 3/4 in 95+ F temps with AC, now i can run the AC in 100+ F and it stays at 1/2 mark.
I deleted the fan without an electric fan in its stead.

While doing rod bearings and front subframe removed, cleaned everything, put new Lemforder inner/outer tie rods, OEM CSL knuckles, new wheel bearings, new PS lines. Also add 2 shims to power steering pump for 25% assist reduction. Also new rad hoses. List is long, doing complete refresh!

Figured I'd be able to offload this easily if it didn't work out. Since my car has a bolt in roll-bar and topside subframe brace, the back is not accessible and I can fit one wheel in the trunk. If I could get three on top, with ample safety margin for weight, I'll be happy. Not sure yet what basket/platform I'm going to get quite yet.
Thought about doing that myself, they’re pretty hard to find here though.

Yeah they feel more rigid than OEM.
It probably started leaking a long time ago, but recently it became problematic. I actually thought my leak was more likely due to the O-ring on the exhaust camshaft sensor, but upon inspection it appears fine, replacing nonetheless.

And if anyone is wondering how I know it is an Elring, because its labeled Elring on the half moon part.
