Because the natural progression is to want a CAE. So why bother with anything else. At the end of the day a CAE is an H pattern shifter that is only taller than stock. It’s not reinventing the wheel. You’re shifting a taller stalk, that’s it.

It is an arm workout though, since the effort increases significantly. Some people also don't like the non stock look.

But I agree, after driving my s2k, that is the type of shifter I want in the M3 over the melted swiss cheese feeling that it comes with stock compared to those.

      Youtube DIYs and more

All jobs done as diy - clutch, rod bearings, rear subframe rebush, vanos, headers, cooling, suspension, etc.

PM for help in NorCal. Have a lot of specialty tools - vanos, pilot bearing puller, bushing press kit, valve adjustment, fcab, wheel bearing, engine support bar, etc.

Sure it’s a bit more but I wouldn’t say it’s that bad. A 997 GT3 takes more effort to shift properly than a CAE which has defined “ gates”
