    Dash Cam Recommendations

What dash cams are you guys using on your M3s? I'm looking for something under $100 that is low-profile and doesn't stick out like a sore thumb.

Aukey DR02 Dash Cam from Amazon, hardwired by tapping into the power cable for homelink. I hit a pothole a while ago, and the footage from the dashcam helped me put together an airtight claim for $2k from the municipal government.

I have a Viofo A119 V3 in mine. It's also tapped into my Homelink wire.

There are lots of choices out there. It took me a while to decide on the Viofo but I've been happy with it.

yeBoth sound like good options, thanks for the recommendations. The fact that they wire into the homelink makes these real attractive over something that would dangle down into the 12v plug.

I have the Viofo A119 too. Pretty basic, inexpensive and reliable.
Already saved somebody's ass too thanks to it!

We have the Viofo A119 in our 4Runner. For $100 dash cam it works great!

I use OldShark, actually use it mainly for track videos. 12v into the lighter though, but t's only like $50.

If no homelink, where else are people tapping into?

I've got a Garmin 65W. Hides completely behind the rear view mirror and I can't see it at all when I'm driving (which is exactly what I wanted).

Homelink 12V is switched and you need constant 12V to get the parking recordings to work. I ran a constant 12V line from the cigarette lighter behind the radio and glovebox, up the a pillar and into the headliner. Got switched 12V and ground from homelink.

Tbone, all NA cars should be prewired for homelink, regardless of whether the car came with the device or not. Just gotta dig around to find the connector (unless you removed that wiring of course).

There should still be a homelink connector tucked in there and wrapped in cloth tape.
