I'd appreciate input to check this.

For those wanting to baseline their cars and are curious of the fuel pumps date. Most are familiar with the obvious month and year stamp. This can easily be smeared or rubbed off. Although on some pumps it has survived.

For context my car was a 10/04 and I had quite a bit of grime, so I am pretty positive this is the original pump. I was able to notice this on my original pump. A stamped number which looked like a tire date code week of year and month. 38.04

    The other label says 09.04

For a sanity check went to an ebay listing:

So lets see if the 41th week in 2003 is in October.

    Cool.

So I kept looking through Ebay Listings:

This one had a very clean filter sock and hose wasn't that yellow.

    I saw 07.20, so July 2020.

My spare pump I have had this whole time doesn't have the paint mark with the month and date but the stamped mark says 2016. So I think I can presume it is a 2016.

While this isn't a solution for buying a new OE pump. I hope this information is accurate, and can help you determine whether you should consider replacing your pump. As well as source a good used spare or a replacement if you want an original VDO and do not want to pay $650 for a new one.

I run the radium kit. It takes two tries to start. I think my fuel pump doesn't have an internal check valve.
