Castrol 10w60 from Audi (for R8)

As some of you know, we've been able to buy our Castrol TWS(10w60) for about $9.55 from Audi dealerships under the guise of an R8 owner. And it's been great.

Unfortunately, Audi has also cut ties with Castrtol/BP, and is having exxon/mobile make their oils to their spec in black euro Mobile 1 bottles. This seems to have started last year or so.

I noticed that the prices on Audio 10w60, using the Audi (now old) part #G0521942LDSP (and G0521941LDSP) got lower. It's been superseded by GE521601QDSP. I saw it for $5-$7 a bottle and though, "Wow!"

Did some digging since the bottle was now a black, VW/Audi label, and wasn't confident that it was Castrol any longer. I found a thread on BITOG:

    https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/th...a-look.322037/

So I bet there are still some Castrol bottles at dealerships, but not for much longer....

Now that said, Euro mobile oil full synth is good oil, and would probably be a fine choice for us. Let's see a VAO first though... I see if BITOG has one yet, in this less popular weight.

RIP. I loved going to Audi dealers and bitching at parts at how much my dads V10 R8 ate.

Thanks .. original part number was down to $6.69 as of the time of this post. I bought 18, shipping was $26, so averaged ~$8 / bottle. Hopefully the old part number is still actually TWS

I also got 18, but shipping to Texas was $42. Still better than $9.55 + tax.

Edit: They canceled the order lol

Update: I've found that to avoid the high shipping fee using Berndardi Parts, you will receive free shipping at a slightly higher cost per unit https://audi.bernardiparts.com/. I paid $146.16 for 18 bottles shipped to CA.

Haha same. Trying bernardi, worked out to pretty much the exact same price. No big deal either way, I’ve been happy with LM 10w-60

Other than its slightly cheaper, why would I get this for my e46m3 vs the OE bmw stuff? ...Which I guess isn't Castrol anymore

Because it's Castrol 10w60, which retails at $14.

OE BMW hasn't been Castrol for awhile; it's Shell.

Hard to say how much it all matters, between reputable brands.

Probably best off with LM or BMW shell from FCPeuro. But I'm stuck in my ways, and prefer Castrol.

I might make the move to Fuchs or Titan or Agip if I can't get the Castrol stuff for a decent rate anymore. I was paying $115 bucks locally a case (12 bottles).

Motul is $41 on Amazon for a 5L
It's slightly better than Castrol and it's even got prime shipping.

The data sheets have to be posted. You can literally open the PDFs and read them side by side. They're on each manufacturer's website.

I mean they're all going to be around the same on spec sheets, I'm more interested in what happens after 5-10k miles of an S54 running it.
