    Ohlin R&T noise in rear

Installed ohlin R&T several months ago. Only issue I have is ‘chatter’ from the rear, primarily at low speeds when going over small bumps. Read through a lot of posts but could not find anything specific. Any one experience this issue or have ideas of how I can fix?

Put the large rubber part from your stock springs back up there.. Thats what I did.. I think whats happening is the spring is probably touching the chassis. Ill try to get a picture for you.

          Thanks, I’ll try that.

From the gap between the black spacer and the lower spring perch, it looks like the spring perch isn't fully tightened to the control arm. Maybe it's supposed to articulate like that, but my rear perches (not Ohlins R&T) don't lift up like that.

I noticed that too and thought it might be due to the wheel hub in a dropped position, thought it might reposition after the car was back on the ground but can’t get a good view. Was actually looking at Difftech articulating perch which is supposed to address the angle but it’s $400 and want to make sure it’s worth it.

If it's loose enough to move when the wheel is dropped, it might move going over bumps. I'd try tightening it up and see if that gets rid of the noise.

Also, there are the GC weight jacks which have an articulating design.

Lol I’ve recently noticed this too. Curious to see if anyone has found a solution. I’m using the spring pads that were provided with the coilovers.

It's the perch not sitting flush with the control arm. Depending on the casting of the BMW aluminum control arm, either the Ohlins perch will get stuck on the mounting point or it will be sitting at an angle causing it to make noise. With the Ohlins hardware, nothing can be done to fix it. They should have made a bolt and washer that clamps the perch to the control arm.

Adding the RE reinforcement plate to the control arm did eliminate the noise, but the perch will sit 2mm higher off the mounting point.

I HD the RE reinforcements and they made also clicking noises I hated and removed them. I am also getting rid of the height jacks for the same reasons

so back to OE spring only setup. Is all about trade offs, or design a rubber pad to dampen contact and noise

I do run the RE reinforcement plates. I'll check the control arm as well as the RE RSMs.

I put my ohlins rear adjuster/perch down on some 1/8" thick rubber - no noise at all ever.

I also used the stock upper rubber pad rather than the plastic little disc Ohlins supplies. A little less VH, and no N (noise).
