    Dreaded diff mount stripped....

Sigh, it was bound to happen sooner or later. The side mount on my diff stripped out, so i'll be sending the car to the shop. Might as well have them replace the subframe bushings while they're dealing with that little issue......

Did you take the bolt out and just didn’t thread it right?

last time i took mine out, i replaced the bolt with a new one and loctited it. I had a hell of a time trying to line up the diff hole while hand threading the bolt. I was tempted to ram the screw in without lining it up out of frustration but finally got it in

Yeah the metal in the diff is pretty soft, I cross threaded mine when installing it once. Timeserts are a goof option. Or you could drill and tap the diff for a bigger bolt.

going to try a timesert as the first option, reserving the rouge kit as last resort. Really wish welding up the hole and redrilling/tapping back to the original was an option....could probably be done but the diff would have to be completely disassembled so not worth it.

Same thing happen to me 5 years ago, My advice is just timesert it with extra deep insert the my make and you will be golden. It’s holding it up really well no odd noises or effects after roughly about 100+ track days. Go Timesert ! best fix ever.

+1 for Time-Sert. It's like what helicoils wish they were.

I just chased the threads on both the diff and bolt and used some Loctite while putting it back in.

When installing bolt, I used floor jack with several pieces of wood to position the diff, then a pry bar to rotate the diff where I could easily hand thread the bolt.

Yeah i think this is why so many ppl end up stripping that diff. It’s easy to just want to ram the bolt in.....but should really be hand threaded first. Same can be said about the oil pan too.....so easy to f up

It was actually very easy if you just relax and let the pry bar do all the work. Not to say I have not cross threaded my share of bolts in the past, which is why i took time with this.
