Anyone know of a good DIY for installing the epoxy/rivet vincebar?
Agreed, that's a pretty thorough DIY. The only thing is that is the updated bar, if you have the original stealth bar that is covered by sheet metal then the steps at the end differ slightly, but the process is largely the same
Obioban I too purchased the Epoxy/Rivet version from Vince and it's on it's way currently. I'm also utilizing the same link from E46 Fanatics, but I have a question for you.
- Do you know if your subframe has cracks? What have you done for underside reinforcement?
The previous owner said mine doesn't have any cracks, but I plan on pulling the rear subframe completely off, refreshing everything and reinstalling. Once I pull the rear subframe, I'll have a better idea if there are cracks (some can be hidden under the subframe/components).
If there are cracks on mine, I plan on ordering the Vince underside skins, epoxy and rivet version. If there aren't any cracks, what's your suggestion in terms of reinforcing underneath? Should I still do Vince skins or should I just do the foam fix. Foam fix plus the topside Vincebar should do the trick, assuming I have no cracks right?
There's also a link to a hard copy of the diy on the page. Here it is as a pdf in case that ever goes down. Picture quality kinda sucks, but the forum won't let me upload the pdf with full res pictures.
Obviously this has already been restated multiple times but what a shame we lost M3F. Vince (VinceSE2) had two or three comprehensive threads that were enough to serve as a guide when I installed mine a few years ago

My subframe is already out-- there's no cracks.
I had my entire rear floor replaced at ~100,000 miles. Since then it's been plated and foamed. Hopefully the Vincebar will be the last time I think about the subframe :P
(other than when I do the Vincebar on the wagon, as well)

That reminds me. I also used two M3Forum threads that I found on wayback machine during my install. These two:
