As mentioned already, it’s weight and volume and tone.

If you see them side by side the obvious is the “Street” has a shell canister like stock. Where the “Sport” has 3/4 size canister. The inlet pipes on Sport run on the left side exposed and then curve into the shorter canister. This is likely where most weight is saved between the two as well as where exhaust gets less “muffled”. The exposed pipes also would allow more outside resonating.

Super Sprint Street is quiet like stock with less metallic “tinny” sound. It’s deeper tone than stock muffler.

I run the eisenmann sport section 3. I wish i could tell you what it sounds like on the street or with a standard all motor setup since I'm turbo but what I can say is that i have a 3 inch DP going to a resonated 3 inch Status Gruppe Section 2 and then the eisenmann sport section 3. no CATS... I've only heard mine on cold start and it was a substantial amount quieter than the previous section 3 I had which was Agency power gen 1.

i really like the design of this section 3, its lighter than stock but its still not really light compared to the agency power gen 1/super sprint race clone muffler.

The Billy Boat is pretty loud. Many of the loud USA versions are not TUV approved for sound. So they make them loud.
Going from Billy Boat to SuperSprint “Street” I’m almost afraid would be such a change OP might be unhappy with that big a drop.

Tinny is exactly how my car has been described by people following behind in the past (SSv1 headers plus their HJS cats, stock the rest of the way). It sounded fine from the drivers seat so you’d never know.

It’s much better blended in with carbon intake roar. That puts some meat into the sound and transforms the tinniness from ear piercing and ugly to an exotic flair lol.

Ya we're the same (well, had cats, not now). I actually like that metallic tinniness from the driver's position. airbox adds a lot of "meat" as you say. From the outside (behind), it is a bit anemic.

Tbone & Obi, do you recall what the setups were with the SS Sport mufflers that droned? I'd like to avoid that. I'm considering CSL headers but would replace my sect 1 with cats if I did that, and if I ever replace the SS res X pipe it'd be with a resonated SS twin 2.5.

Unfortunately, for whatever reason more resonators sound more better on this chassis.

I've never ridden in a car with the Sport that didn't drone.

There is some volume, sure. But I don't perceive it as drone/resonance where you're wanting to pop your ears all the time. I mean, I still make phone calls on speaker phone at 80+mph.

Generally the drone range on the M3 is ~2600-2900 RPM. So, 70-80mph in 6th gear (assuming stock diff) is the problem area-- not 80+.

Understood. My regular 200mile trip has 100miles of freeway with 75mph limit (set cruise at 84), and 100miles of two lane with a 65mph limit (set cruise at 74).

I keep my M3 in 5th when I'm below 75 on the freeway, otherwise it drives me nuts. Plus the engine doesn't seem too happy below 3k.

There is rasp but not like I remember when I had ebay headers years ago. I will try to create a video but i dont think its bad at all honestly but I can be wrong!

I have an electronic exhaust cutout in section 2. It can be opened or closed depending on my mood and how much boost the car is pushing. I’ve found it to be a very handy addition to the car.

^ How does an exhaust “cut-out” make an exhaust system quieter?

hes saying he has the best of both worlds for his use case. he gets to keep his stock section 2 and 3 and with a cut out in place and CLOSED he gets no drone and stock exhaust sound and when he wants more power he flips the switch to open the cut out.
