Good day M3 brothers and sisters,
I’ve recently addressed all of the PM items on the M. I have addressed some exterior issues, and I am now refreshing the interior which includes the stereo system.
The first and only eye sore inside, is the center console. That soft touch gets pretty jacked up. I’d like to replace the center console, including the small console under the radio — but I didn’t realize all of my options and back orders until I started digging into it.
My current set up (attached photo) is the cup holders, with the non-short or “long” version of the center console. I also have the arm rest. In front of the shifter I have the “smokers” option of cigarette lighter and ash tray. I don’t smoke so this isn’t necessarily needed or used, would prefer a USB hook up honestly. Above the ash tray is just a small storage.
My main question I can’t seem to find the answer on is the “short” euro version. Does anyone have photos to compare the two next to each other? Not sure which one Id prefer. Based on pure assumption, if it’s shorter, and I currently have a long it will expose carpet that has been covered since the car was manufactured?
Starting from top down, I am keeping my standard Business radio CD player non-nav. Below that, I have the storage, which I do like. What are my option for the cigarette lighter and ash tray? If there are none I need to replace this anyway because it’s all scratched up.
I’d like to replace the cup holders with just the sliding storage.
My last concern is the arm rest. It definitely looks cleaner without it, but those of you that deleted it, do you love it or hate it?
With all of that being said, where is the BEST source to get all of this interior stuff? Some is on back order, some is priced like an air cooled Porsche.
Lastly, my seats are original, and honestly in phenomenal condition for their age / miles. My rear seats and cards are mint. So if I considered getting my seats done, how do I go about this the right way? Genuine BMW leather is proven to be about as legitimate as it gets based on my experience. How did some of you go about getting your seats re-done but with 100% quality equal to BMW standards, while achieving the same color? My seats are Imola. The drivers seat is really the only one that needs any kind of attention. The passenger seat has some minor blemishes, but if I’m doing one, I’m going to do both. Any input / experience on this would be greatly appreciated!
