Is it possible to get more power with Dinan S3-R?

I was wondering if anybody has modified his Dinan S3-R E46 M3 to get more boost / power like equivalent of ESS vt2-525/550?

What would it take? A new custom tune, SC pulley, colder spark plugs. But would it requires an aluminum intake manifold? Bigger Injectors?

I know it’s possible but how difficult or expensive to do?

That's an interesting thought! I'd like to know, too.

It would be awesome to see the S3-R with a stand alone, fuel upgrades and e85. Although, part of the beauty of the Dinan kit is being able to remain as stock as possible.

This was true when those cars were still covered/under warranty but now that they are all between 14-19 years old, it would be nice to see Dinan S3-R cars with same hp as AA, VF or ESS kit.

There’s a kit for sale over here in alberta.
Would the issue with getting more power out be related to using the stock air box?

Years ago I was at SCR performance in Colorado for my epic motorsports tune and they had a S3-R in for a smaller pulley. They can be modded but I wouldn't be suprised if the ceiling was fairly low.

It’s possible to do by replacing the dinian supercharger kit. You pretty have to swap way too much to get the power numbers your looking for to make it cost effective.

Remove the Dinan kit from my car this winter and sold kit couple of months ago.

I think all you would have to do is swap the pulley, possibly injectors, a custom tune and go catless.

The biggest issue with running more boost on the S3R kit is that it re-uses the stock airbox. I've heard of them coming loose under load so you'd have to figure out a way to get that sucker on tight. The Vortech blowers that are used at like 4-6.5 PSI can actually run up to 20 PSI on other applications.

                Just food for thought.

^^^^ pretty much, but by the time you gather all the additional parts you would be at the same price if you just sold the dinan kit and picked up another kit with everything ready to go.

Does anyone have the Dinan "Boost Upgrade Kit" for this setup? Or know what the pulley diameter is?

I think that kit is to go from non-intercooled to intercooled.

I'm not aware of Dinan offering any boost upgrades for the S3-R.

If I remember correctly, stock is 4.1"

Thanks for the reply. That is interesting, but which one is 4.1 (Intercooled or non), and what is the other size?

                          S3-R is intercooled, S3 is non-intercooled.

IDK what size pulley the S3 uses. There's some other S3-Rs on the forum, but IDK of anyone that has a regular S3.
