Hey everyone,
After being away from BMWs for quite a while, I’m finally back and just put a deposit down on this car. Super excited to be back in an E46 M3, especially one running a VF 570 supercharger setup.
Once I take delivery, I plan on doing all the usual baseline maintenance right away (oil change, brakes, fluids, etc.), but I wanted to tap into the community here to make sure I’m not missing anything important—especially given the forced induction.
A few questions I have so far:
The car seems well cared for, but I want to start ownership on the right foot and make sure everything is solid before pushing it. Any advice, lessons learned, or “do this before you regret it” tips would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance—looking forward to being back in the community!

A few questions I have so far:
- Oil choice:
Since the car is running a VF 570, should I be sticking with 10W-60, or are some of you running a different weight with good results? Any brand preferences for boosted S54s? - Oil change intervals:
How often are you guys changing oil on a supercharged setup—3k miles, sooner? - Spark plugs:
What plugs and heat range are you running with the VF 570? How often do you inspect or replace them? - Supercharger maintenance:
Is there any routine maintenance I should be doing on the VF unit itself (oil, couplers, belts, etc.) that’s commonly overlooked? - Fueling & tune:
Anything specific I should verify regarding injectors, fuel pump, or tune version? Is there a recommended way to confirm everything is healthy/logging properly? - Reliability items:
Outside of the obvious (rod bearings, VANOS, subframe), are there any boost-specific weak points I should address early on? - Cooling:
Any cooling upgrades that are considered “must-haves” for a VF car, especially for spirited driving or warmer climates?
The car seems well cared for, but I want to start ownership on the right foot and make sure everything is solid before pushing it. Any advice, lessons learned, or “do this before you regret it” tips would be greatly appreciated.
