I may get just the 63.5 sec 2 (res.) and see what happens, that would be 2.5" front to back on my setup as the SCZA is 2.5".
Although I can't help but think that might be too much for a non-cammed NA car.
I know this subject keeps getting brought up but I think it's been more or less thought that even with airbox/ss headers/cams the SS 2.5" sec. 2 is still overkill. Decisions..

I believe an oversized muffler is not necessary/beneficial for a NA/stock internals (-cams) car.

That said, I think the stock muffler may become a choke point at some NA bolt on power level (no dyno proof of this). When I took the Scorza muffler off my car, my plan was to just go with a stock muffler with larger tips. The moment I swapped to stock, I felt a power loss. I went from that to SuperSprint Street to keep the stock like sound levels, but with the Scorza power levels-- which it did. My SS Street is not oversized.

Nothing I've said in this post is backed up by any dyno data, just my butt dyno.

Can anyone confirm that the resonated oversized Section 2 pipes are worth the power increase at the cost of the “Motorsport” sound?

        Thanks!

I can't confirm either way, because I can't hear my exhaust over my airbox-- which is 100% how I desire it to be. The e46 M3 exhaust sounds terrible, always. The CSL Airbox makes the car sound like a McLaren F1. Easy choice

I understand the surprise about not being able to buy headers individually. Statement around not selling emissions-defeating devices was not robust enough to lead readers to that conclusion.

However...holy hell less than $3,100 shipped for V1's with HJS-catted section 1 is unbelievable. Less than 5-grand for full SS system. OP has done well

As far as I can tell this deal is ~5% cheaper than Black Friday unless sales tax is added later which would make it more expensive than Black Friday. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but thanks for the effort OP.

Yes. I will edit this on confirmed orders. For now, just pick the Header combo

If you're talking about "the" Black Friday ... my catted V1 setup was $2721. This is more but close enough to not really matter.

Tempted by the 63.5mm oversized section 2 and I'd be really tempted on a Street muffler with single wall race style tips. Was the street muffler deliberately left out Epoustouflant or just not popular enough to include? Any hope of custom specifying tip style? People here say Supersprint will do it but so far I've been unable to get ECS or Schmiedmann to order one for me.

Seeing how the internals of the stock muffler is laid out, I wouldn't be surprised if it were a choke point.
Hmm, for NA mods, I'm starting to think that maybe a stock Sec 2 with a SS muffler would be better than a oversized Sec 2 with stock muffler...

I would assume it was a question of popularity. Regarding "secret" SKUs, I asked ECS to check. GBs aren't ideal for custom ordered products per experience as manufacturers benefits from economies of scale to pass along savings.

Yo WTF I can't just buy headers?

What is the damn point in this then.

Yep understood. If they can offer the street though the tips seem like they'd be inconsequential considering they use the same ones on the race (and sport too I believe). Better flowing ~stock volume muffler would probably be pretty popular on this forum at least given how many of us think the S54 exhaust sounds like ass unless toned way down / mixed with induction noise.

Almost everyone, over the years, on M3f, would say that they felt an INCREASE going back to the stock muffler from an aftermarket.

Scorza is 2.5", so it's more believable that Obioban could perceive a loss, but I doubt there'd be anything felt with other aftermarket mufflers that are almost all 55-60mm dia.

Matt, ok I selected the oversized header/sect 1 combo, but ofc, I can only see the combined price. I guess I can do the math and figure out how much just for the sect 1. Is tax being added to these prices in the connex?

^Curious to the tax thing as well, and is payment required immediate upon committing?

Tax isn't added on the Connex, that will be ECS managed.
