If it's any consolation, there's a lot more room between the racp sheet metal layers than I initially thought there was. I took forever to cut my trunk floor open with a dremel because I didn't want to mess it up and once it was done, I realized I could have used the angle grinder for most of the cutting.
I sure wish this simplified version could be completely hidden though. I'm sure a person good at this type of thing could make some misc pieces of metal to cover it up a bit more, it's just the side pieces that rivet/weld into the frame area that one really can't make to look OE.
I plan on keeping this car indefinitely however it does bother me that once those cuts are made the value instantly goes down as far as long term value.
Did you follow the instructions on E46fanatics.com or Vince's or both? I need to turn those online instructions into a PDF and have that printed/binder. Since the old forums went away I like to at least have. PDF of these DIYs, you never know.2004 Silbergrau Metallic 6MT

Also don't worry about the looks too much. It'll be completely invisible with the trunk back together.2002 Topasblau M3 - Coupe - 6MT - Karbonius CSL Airbox - MSS54HP Conversion - Kassel MAP - SSV1 - HJS - PCS Tune - Beisan - MK60 Swap - ZCP Rack - Nogaros - AutoSolutions - 996 Brembos - Slon - CMP - VinceBar - Koni - Eibach - BlueBus - Journal
