That black band used to be an o-ring when new. It's only flattened because it's old and heat cycled. I'm installing a new vanos plate with the viton orings. Is there any reason to take off the solenoid for additional deep cleaning? Beisan DIY suggests doing so but not sure if that's overkill or worth the extra effort.
