Love or hate him it will interesting to see his build. I met Matt around a decade ago and will say he is car guy though and though, that has been able to transition his passion to his business.

Im excited see the progression the E46 build.

      That's a good point.

I personally never understood the EAG appeal and their “first right of refusal” policy when buying the car back. We all know the inventories of old ///M cars aren’t growing. They started before bringatrailer, carsandbids and other places that cater to enthusiasts and provide great exposure to the seller. Perhaps it’s time to reconsider the business model given the “call for price” and slim pickings on their website. The car in the original post is nice, but it’s a far cry from where they claim to position themselves in the e46 market.

I see what you're saying about Matt - but I'd have to disagree. The guy covers a very wide spectrum of cars and different audiences, however he's been an BMW M guy from day 1 with his initial Interlagos E92 M3 way, way back when M3post was cool and his latest build.

His style isn't for everyone, I considered his critique of the Akra Evo on the E9X M3 to be shallow; there are many more benefits to the Akra over the ugly ARH kit he put on that makes the S65 sound like a Coyote. Yet that's what makes the car community what it is; diversity and subjectivity that translates into individual choices for our builds.

I can tell you from dealing with brands, you can easily be swayed by the latest sales pitch - staying objective is a consistent challenge. I genuinely believe Matt has been really good about it.

The appeal is that 1) EAG already knows the car and the amount of work they’ve put into it and most buyers continue to maintain the car to those same same standards. And 2) it completely takes out the bullshlt runaround you get from “enthusiasts” on these forums and the constant low-balling. #2 in itself makes it worth it.

You really think it’s slim pickings on the website because there’s simply no inventory? They’ve been established for some time now and you better believe those who aren’t on the forums or other social media are still aware of who they are. There’s no reason to change your business model when there are a crap ton of deals happening behind the scenes.

I think if I go to sell a rare car, it’s going on bringatrailer. I am just one guy with one opinion.

Edit: I don’t want to derail this thread further. A dude bought a car. He seems happy. Seller is happy. All is well.

I've tried to watch his content numerous times and never once have finished a video of his.

When a video starts out and the owner isn't even sure of the name of the color on the car he just bought...and monotone delivery reminiscent of how excited I get every time I pick up a rental car for work trips...13 seconds of video was enough for me.

Can’t remember what he paid for the car, but it was upper 5-figures to begin with. Techno Violet on M-Cloth, ~40k miles. Then Brembos front & rear, TCK suspension while waiting for his Öhlins TTX’s to be built, all the other BS. I could see the total getting into the six figures rather quickly.

yeah and he also dumped a good chunk of money on maintenance and refurbishing the car.. front door panels, glove box, all sorts of trims and seals, bunch of OCD level under the hook work. Not to mention painting several of the door panels and also dry icing. I'm sure he worked out something with the dry ice guy but still.... he is easily 100k into the E36 and soon the E46.... matt seems to dump half million dollars on cars and mods annually lol.

When I'm watching car content on YouTube, I don't care what car it's about. I'm in it for the entertainment and to maybe learn something. And listening to Matt ramble is not entertaining.

But to answer your question, if E46 M3 content is required, then Motorsport Inspired isn't too bad. A really small channel, but I'd much rather watch him than OG https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAN...OawoSDQ/videos
For any BMW content, M539 Restoration is awesome. https://www.youtube.com/c/M539Restorations/videos
For car content in general, anything Jason Camissa puts out (either on ISSIMI or Hagerty) is top notch IMO.

Hagerty and Camissa are fucking great. I have been watching Sreten (m539) since the beginning, excellent channel.
