As cool as that is I still prefer the stock/karbonius one. With the airbox you'd have to decide which piece is going to have the m power vinyl on it.

That cover also needs to be modified to work and is generic looking as well since it's purposeful.

Looks like Karbonius has another option for carbon engine covers and this one is in 1x1 vs 2x2 weave. Yours for only $850 sans emblem =)

This is an interpretation of the Carbon Engine Cover that BMW had on the Concept M3 CSL which had a vertically laid carbon weave compared to the typical diagonally-laid weave. Made in carbon fiber prepreg in aluminum mold and cured in an autoclave, lends the best finished you can find on the market and a major thermal and structural stability. With an awesome appearance, the high gloss finish accentuates the carbon fiber weaves, and provides UV protection. The piece uses Monoblock Construction, which means that there are no pieces glued that can be released due to vibrations or the heat of the engine and is trimmed in a 5 axis CNC machine, so fitment will be perfect and easy to install. All our pieces are numbered, so its origin and authenticity are granted. Does not include "M" Emblem. Kit Includes: Karbonius S54 CSL Concept Engine Cover Stainless Steel "CSL" or "///M" Plate Certificate of Authenticity Product Features: 100% Carbon Fiber Prepreg Attractive minimalist aesthetics Reduced weight Easy installation Cured in mold and in autoclave CNC trimmed Exclusive and numbered piece 2 years warranty OPTIONAL: OE "///M" Emblem Application Guide: BMW M3 / M3 CSL E46 BMW Z4M BMW Z3M with S54B32 ONLY

Their csl concept one has been out for awhile.

Installing that on an m3 is like a 330ci putting on an m badge, just not as big of a violation.

Don't remember where I found this photo, but I absolutely love the look. Would love to see a cool retro/throwback design like that for the S54.

Luckily Fedex delivery made up in some part for the delay - was very snappy from Spain to Oz.

Quality appears impeccable. Nice recess for M badge (pity it's not included for the price)

Main fear is it's gonna show up everything else under the bonnet once installed
Did you ever fix this? any update? I am about to buy one.

your post got me wanting to check mine. i've had the engine cover in possession for quite some time, but wanted to install at the same time as the intake. fwiw, mine came just like OP's along with some washers

Thanks for sharing. it seems is just the nature of the beast, even the original motorsport one is like that.

of course, no problem at all.

yeah, it may just be how these cf covers are designed, although the photo shared by ocean from the Karb website makes it seem like there are/were some supplied with those metal dowels. I'm sure it presents its own set of issues. I guess the CF is strong enough and as long as I don't overtighten and spread out the force with a washer, it should be okay?

which one were you thinking about getting and in what finish? just curious

Ordering tonight. Will get the CSL concept in 2x2 gloss as my intake is like that. I am debating between CSL or ///M script. I know my car is faaar from a CSL as mine is a Z4M, but I already have too many M’s in the engine bay.

Would love to get the CSL concept one with ///M script in 2x2 Gloss CF to match my OE CSL intake. Wish they made one that said CS

Placed the order for the CSL concept version, and chose 'CSL' script. we will see. I ordered directly from Karb as opposed to IND, which if I am lucky and do not need to pay taxes will be cheaper including the ///M logo to finish it up.
