Switching to thinner oil might actually be worse. When an engine isn't running right, it'll usually dump a bunch of fuel and other contaminants in the oil. Thinner oils generally don't cope with that as well (there are exceptions but that's the rule).
I’ll continue to investigate but those first 30 seconds or so are definitely more pronounced in the Winter months.

Anyone running Amsoil on their race/track car?

I’m on my last set of TWS and thinking of what to try next.

Does anyone have thoughts comparing 5W50 vs 5W40?

Bimmerworld lists 5W40 as optimal for cold conditions but wouldn’t the 5W50 still be better for Summer months?

I've been using Redline 10w-40 for a long while now and the engine feels happy. Awesome oil pressure at all times, so far haven't had the need to go to a thicker oil.

AFAIK the only potential issue is that some of the components can start falling out of suspension after a while, but it’s nothing a good shake can’t fix.

Props to you guys for doing that man I wouldn't have the energy.

If the above is true, it's because I'm lazy is that a good enough reason?

Castrol also makes a 5w-50 which might be a decent option for people whose cars see winter duty.
