FCP Euro completely changes the game for oil. After just 1 lifetime exchange, the effective price drops so low that there's no way anything from any other vendor could possibly be worth the money. Like, there's no way for an engine oil to extend the life of an engine by enough to offset the price difference.2008 E90 M3 6MT

I'm going to pull the 5 out that aren't welded to the crank and check them in the next week or two. I definitely want to see how bad they are. The engine I just bought had bearings that were in such good condition, I would've put them back if I hadn't bought bearings already. ItOriginally posted by terra View Post
If you had a failure within 5000 miles, it's not the most recent oil change where the bulk of the damage was done. Those bearings were going to pop no matter what you put in there at that point. This is my Unbuild Journal and why we need an oil thread

Spoke/texted with a friend having his S54 bearings replaced in his race car as we speak. He has WPC bearings and has been running Total Quartz 10W-60 synthetic racing oil with LiquiMoly Cera Tec (https://products.liqui-moly.us/cera-tec-1.html) . This will be fun to compare if the LiquiMoly additive actually helped when I tear down my motor.

As a few have noted in here already, FCP changed the game for me. I've been using Liqui Moly 10W-60 for a few years now with no problems. With FCP's lifetime replacement policy can't imagine using anything else. They do sell the BMW 10w-60 I think too.2004 E46 Imola Red M3 Coupe

I can't wait to fill my engine. Sadly I need 6.5L and used about half already during lubing an engine that was sitting for a while. When the oil filter housing is removed, BMW calls for an extra liter and I definitely saw why when I rotated my engine on the stand. Oil somehow kept coming out. It was spawning out of thin air it almost seemed. I feel good using Castrol TWS because so many have been using it. Hopefully we didn't buy knock off oil...Originally posted by r4dr View PostI would be genuinely curious how an engine with bulletproofed rod bearings runs on 0W-40 longterm. Not curious enough to do it myself though.
Just did an oil change today with $9/L Castrol 10W-60 from Amazon. This is my Unbuild Journal and why we need an oil thread
