Has Anyone tried Active Autowerke Section 1 with high flow cat? I just ordered it and hoping to get it this week. Seems the lowest cost I could find at around $1k. It was 100 cell not 200 cell.

I bought an m3 recently with catless headers and a resonator delete. It's loud - but my real issue that I didn't really anticipate was how bad it would smell. Not bad if it's a second or third car that you only drive occasionally, but on a warm day in LA traffic it can become a nuisance.

Though, traditionally, the older SS "x" pipe (really a double Y pipe) ARE supposed to kill rasp and change the sound in (to most) a pleasant way. So now I'm thinking you're hearing the rasp literally eminating from the midpipes, which I too experienced badly when I installed some cheap, catless 2.5" ebay pipes (manzo).

I really really think, for multiple reasons, you should keep the decent german ebay sect 1 you have since it's of decent construction and 2.5" piping, and have some HJS 200cell (more expensive) or GESI 300 cell (less expensive) cats welded in and not bother with more resonators. Partly it's my suggestion because it already has o2 bungs for emissions (iirc)

Or sell the sect 1, and not even lose $, and pony up for the Supersprint HJS one - you will not be disappointed. Or you can ride in my car, though I have the stepped version of things (2.5")

I can't wait to go back to stock sect 1, even though I love the scorza. I think stock sounds so good actually. You should hear Andre's bone stock (just eventuri) Carbon black E46 - it sounds so damn good it's always a nice reminder. His is a factory freak or something though. Sounds like it's running on 100 octane with cams blah blah, strange. Even a E92 M3 guy we ran with in the canyons said Andre's stock E46 sounded better than a few of our highly modified ones lol.

And once you have the airbox, you'll be glad to have a large bodied muffler, if you can fix this unpleasent midpipe sound.
This is making me reconsider my most recent SS exhaust choices… glad I still have a stock section 3 lying around

I'm biased by having a modified E90 M3 though. No desire to hear E46 muffler noise any longer. I still like the sound of the stepped headers/2.5" sect 1 mixed with the airbox, just quieted down by the stock muffler.

True. I have AA stuff on my e36 m3, their supercharger setup and track pipe, but the Stromung rear box makes it sound good at least.

Understood. Still might work for the function I need it to. We'll see.

Hey, i just want to post this info so nobody make mistake like i did, so i had very loud full exhaust, fully decat and unresonated, megan headers, unresonated section 1 with x pipe, unresonated section 2 without H pipe, and some unknown brand loud exhaust, i wanted to make it bit quieter so i ordered section 1 with dual AR resonators already welded in, since my setup didnt have H pipe i wanted to try it out, i welded in my H Pipe before resonators (kinda like CPI) and installed them, we verified that there was no leaks and everything was fine so i took it for drive, soon as i left shop i noticed sound was almost same, maybe little bit quieter and it lost quite a lot of HP/TQ, idk if they flow bad or dual resonators are too much for my current setup or if my H pipe placement is problem here but i definitely feel so much power loss, my car was pulling quite good even with 6th gear, without any problem and now even if i floor in second gear it barely moves, if i would describe this, its like engine cannot breath anymore, my car was making 300+ whp and now i think its not even 200, so yeah i would not recommend dual AR resonators at all, also if anyone would help me out to sort this power loss issue i would really appreciate

Should take you about an hour to swap them back out

The placement of the crossover is key. For the best performance, keep it in the stock location. It also sounds like you have a single pipe section 2 and that will negatively impact torque. With a dual resonated section 1 (or even better a catted section 1), the easiest and best solution is to reinstall the stock section 2.

This is how my car is, no cats, no resonators. It's so loud and smells so bad although I'll admit both are growing on me. So thanks for the info. I ordered a catted section 1 from Active Autowerke that is to be installed a week from today. I'm gonna start with that and see how it goes. If it's still very loud I may try to add in a single AR Resonator first. Will adding a cat cut down on the sound just a bit? `I don't mind the sound but I'm a business professional and the entire building can hear my car when I pull in the garage even a couple of floors up (lol)

No joke, they can likely smell it on you too, you get too used to it to notice.

seriously! Going catless sounds like a great idea but if it's your daily watch out.

No my section 2 is twin 60mm pipes like factory, just oversized and without resonators or H pipe, yes i know that crossover placement is important but i dont think that caused so much power loss, i think issue is dual resonators which don't flow good and actually restricted my free flow setup, so now im planning going on dyno and measuring everything then chop resonators and and move H pipe closer to section 2, dyno it again, then ill install X pipe instead of that H pipe and finally see whats the best setup for this car
