Again, appearance is subjective, and some obviously like Teslas. But there are a lot of cars that look SO much better than a Tesla now.
And in 10-20 years when ALL new cars will be EVs with EXACTLY the same/similar technologies/performance - design and looks will be what sells them. And Italians, Germans, and Brits will absolutely kill Tesla in that department.

edit: I like it better without tints
Edit 2: you should consider a designated build thread for this car in this forum. It is just stunning.

All Teslas look like bloated fish, and they don't make anything even remotely appealing to me. Their exterior design is absolutely generic and their interiors are definition of terrible - design, materials, and craftsmanship. The powertrain and technology are very impressive, but I don't want to be seen dead in a Tesla. Or any EV for that matter.

Stylistically, cars should be compared to other cars with the same legal restrictions and practicality. So, best looking current production sedan? I'd say it's the current model S. Do I think it's the best looking car on sale today? No, nor do I think any sedan ever has been or will be-- they're restricted by practicality restraints, instead of style over substance.
(and the model S actually suffers the practicality more than most, since it can be equipped with 3 seat rows/7 seats AND still have a trunk at the same time :P)
The e39 is (IMO) better looking, but it's not in production and couldn't be produced today-- its styling wouldn't allow it to pass modern pedestrian crash standards. It's ultimately also going to be a (probably valueless) paperweight in 10-20 years, when you can't buy gas anymore (gas stations won't exist when there's not people to buy gas from them).
... and IMO the current AM Vantage actually looks way more like a fish than the Tesla it actually competes with (the roadster):

2012 LMB/Black 128i
2008 Black/Black M5 Sedan

It is pretty laughable to me that people think that EVs will take over so thoroughly in 10-20 years that gas stations won’t even exist, lol. As if like 70% of people aren’t currently driving cars over 10 years old and could afford to purchase some hypothetical cheap EV even if it does come to exist in a decade. The transition will happen far slower than that. It will be a miracle for the environment if 50% of new vehicles sold in 2030 are EVs.

well, that and $15,000 Chinese EV’s that are half paid for by the $7500 US government rebate on EVs, which help to create the above situation. $7500 new, cheaper used cars with 1/5 the fueling bill and near zero upkeep is a pretty compelling combo for people that would otherwise hold onto old cheap cars.
