All jobs done as diy - clutch, rod bearings, rear subframe rebush, vanos, headers, cooling, suspension, etc.
PM for help in NorCal. Have a lot of specialty tools - vanos, pilot bearing puller, bushing press kit, valve adjustment, fcab, wheel bearing, engine support bar, etc.

Semi related to this topic, but for those of you running these tire sizes, is your TPMS light on? Ever since I deviated from OEM sizing I have not been able to get my TPMS light to shut off. I have attempted to reset it multiple times. Just checked my tire pressure and they are the same from side to side - 35 psi front, 40 psi rear.'06 BMW M3 6MT Coupe - TiAg/Imola

Its been a while, so I am paraphrasing here.
I found an old thread on a Porsche forum (someone here did mention a Porsche forum - and that informed my search) where it was stated that way back when a BFG engineer had written that the sidewalls on modern low profile tires are so stiff that the majority of the tire's deformation while in operation is in the tread. Lower pressure will provide less stabilization of the tread and allow centrifugal force to expand the center area of the tread and lead to accelerated wear. Higher pressure will stabilize the tread and mitigate effect of centrifugal force thereby evening out the wear.
I have never been able to confirm this, so who knows. It would be great if we could get a tire engineer on here for some Q&A.
