Not sure why , but anyone notice that the Planned M8 coupe that was shelved is not being shown? The 850 CSI was the closest we ever got to an M8, and I'm sure they built them for testing.

The s62 Prototype "CSL" is stirling Grey. It isn't a CSL Chassis and didn't start out to be a CSL Prototype (it has more relation to the M3 GTR Street Version than the CSL). It's a marketing hype for the M4 CSL.

It's a bit of a false pretense to call it a secret CSL Prototype - so many things don't add up with that car and if you look closely you'll know why.

Loved the fact that it has SMG. Please tell us some more about what you noticed.

How much would be it cost to bring the reliability/fixed of an e60m5 to reasonable levels?

            Are you starting with a 2006 M5 or a 2009/2010?

That really is the question. There's 3 eras of S85, and by the 3rd era it's reliable outside of needing routine rod bearings.

SMG is never reliable, but you can 6MT convert it (probably $10,000 project if you're paying for labor).

iDrive of that era is unreliable, but you can upgrade to newer idrive (or aftermarket) that is reliable.

If its an earlier car, include the price of a replacement engine in your budget.

Yup you definitely want an 08-10 for E60 M5. The early engines are missing a lot of the fixes.

It is possible to update the early engines and address the issues though. Not easy (and of course not cheap), but it is doable.

Might as well spend the extra dough on a later model year at that point IMO. 🤪

Oh absolutely. Unless you find some great deal on an early car or really (reeaally) like working on cars, it's not worth it. Financially or otherwise.
