speculation: Someone wanted this car in this color when they were young, but it didn’t materialize. The same person likely saw the current m3 offering in person and thought, fuck it, if I find one in the right spec and low enough mileage — I’ll get it.

Yeah I agree. I wouldn't entertain more than 40k for an 01 PY. For 55k it better be at least a 04. The bidding history is insane. Went from $10,500 to $38,000 to $50,000. These dudes are just slapping each other around with a stack of cash

You have to see it in person on a sunny day to appreciate it. There is no other yellow color car as nice as PY.

Are N54's really that unreliable, like S85 territory or what? The reason I want an N54 is the ability to make some power without spending like I have to make NA power on the M3. Plus that 335i chassis seams like it could make a halfway decent autocross platform.

do your research, if math adds up then get one. N54 is very stressed out Of the box.
