Reminder to all in this thread how BAT sales can go. Bottom line is the seller put this excellently restored BMW on BAT, agreed to the reserve, then said nope when it sold for much less than what he really wanted (and perhaps deserved). What is surprising to me is the number of people in the comments saying what the seller did was just fine. If I sign on the dotted line, accepted the risk, and lost then I live up to my obligations. Of course seller is banned. Thread here where the seller states people reached out and said they tried to bid in the last two minutes but couldn't but of course there is no evidence. Couple of thoughts on this.
1. Are people really this dumb? It is the internet which like an old 80s telephone requires wires and infrastructure. Of course somebody somewhere at sometime isn't going to be able to bid due to either a problem on BATs end or their own.
2. Seller agreed to the reserve. Admits he agreed to the reserve, what kind of moron takes that kind of gamble with a low reserve if he truly feels his car is worth what he thinks?
3. Did the seller not do any research on the actual market values for his car? This wasn't an e30 m3.
4. Passion != dollars returned
5. BAT doesn't remove the SOLD from the auction listing even if the transaction wasn't completed. Bad form on their part IMO, should be some follow up so we can really understand the market. We have no idea the frequency with which this occurs.
My own experience as a buyer on BAT was outstanding but of course that is mostly due to the seller presenting the car for exactly what it was and living up to his end of the bargain.Last edited by oceansize; 01-17-2022, 07:27 AM.3.91 | CMP Subframe & RTAB Bushings | SMG (Relocated & Rebuilt) | ESS Gen 3 Supercharger | Redish | Beisan | GC Coilovers & ARCAs | Imola Interior | RE Rasp | RE Diablo | Storm Motorwerks Paddles | Will ZCPM3 Shift Knob | Apex ARC-8 19x9, 19x9.5 | Sony XAV-AX5000 | BAVSOUND | CSL & 255 SMG Upgrades | Tiag | Vert w/Hardtop

I think it’s underpriced. If it were CB/Tiag/Smg/grey int- I would possibly agree but this seems like a solid car. Again. Just my two cent.

I received a response from BAT for a lower reserve than I was confortable with and I decided not to take the gamble so I didn't list my car with them. The guy is kinda dumb for agreeing. BAT just want to sell as many cars as possible and they rather put lower reserves and ''let the market dictate the sale''. (in their own words lol)
