    Weighted broomstick but illuminated?

Anyone ever successfully retrofit an OEM shift knob to be illuminated, or know a shop that can it? I want the OEM weighted broomstick (P/N 25117896884) but don't want to lose out on the lights.

Didn’t a member named “deadlysyns” do this service? Not sure if he’s even around anymore. There’s a company called LeatherZ that also did it.

I have not done the project on that gooseneck style weight one, but on two ZHP weighted knobs before. You’ll need your previous lighted knob to source the parts needed. There’s a DIY on forum. I’d check the top emblem plaque shape is compatible first.

Get a good SSK and you don't need a weighted knob.

Bouncing off this..Autosolutions can make your shift lever a little heavier by installing some weights. Give him a call.

I'm confused...my shift knob, which is factory, IS illuminated. I guess this is different being weighted?

How about an AutoSolutions SSK + weighted illuminated zhp shift knob?

ZHP shift knob sucks, in my humble opinion.

This? The weight difference isn't really noticable when installed. A lot of placebo here imo.

Correct. This is not the factory lighted one-piece boot and “gooseneck” tall knob. He’s referring to just this weighted tall gooseneck knob. Being weighted like the “stubby zhp”. But wants to make it lighted.

Thank you. This use to be a popular alternative, obviously keeping the lights as well. No idea about now.

Replacing the stock shifter in my 2003 ///M3 with a 330d shifter. This is a great and low cost alternative to install a short shifter. This video is not an...

^ Well that’s the 330D shift lever swap. One might still like the weighted shift knob for this (as the fulcrum point has changed).
I have a complete SSK from Autosolutions and still notice my weighted(lighted) F10 M5 knob.

As far as I'm aware the F10/F8x shift knobs are the only lighted and weighted shift knobs BMW made.

I’m sorry guess I wasn’t clear enough. I have “physically opened up a non-illuminated shift knob to add lights”.
It was also weighted. It was however not the tall “gooseneck” version though. There’s a DIY on the forum. You’ll need a dremel to shave down some of the knobs plastic base under the emblem plaque to make room for the light and also holes through the weighted top for the wiring.

*My experience is on the weighted stubby ZHP knobs. No experience on the weighted tall gooseneck that you have shown.
