FCP Euro Lifetime Replacement Guarantee Update

Friend just sent me a link to this: https://blog.fcpeuro.com/fcp-euro-li...arantee-update

Basically there's going to be two changes:
    1. Refunds for lifetime warranty stuff will only be issued as store credit now.
    2. Refunds will cover the original purchase price, not the replacement price.
Not super surprised, but still sorta bummed

Maybe some shops started to take advantage of this? Regardless, I'm glad it still exists and wasn't fully cancelled.

Woooow, that sucks. So we will no longer get refunds on unopened purchases? It should be at least 14 days or something... that doesn't even make sense.

I can't believe it hasn't been canceled yet, already kinda expecting them too. The changes don't upset me either as it is still very generous. I'd be happy even if it was more strict if it meant we get to keep the biggest perks. (for example, I don't think they should accept returns on preventive maintenance, like getting a new water pump on their dime every 50k miles just because you can or 1k mile oil change intervals). At the same time, I don't feel that bad after seeing the crazy mark up on some parts (this applies to all US vendors).
Also, more bad news, paypal is no longer paying return shipping.

For frequently replaced consumables don't buy the first batch when discounted.

I thought #2 was already the case. Certainly seems more than fair, either way.

          ... and 1 doesn't really matter.

I say, wins all around. Glad they're not ending it :P

I imagine a few of us will end up with a decent stock of store credit after enough maintenance items. If I return my latest oil change and my brakes over winter, looks like I'll be putting those towards the full cooling system replacement.

Exactly. It's not like I'll be stopping ordering from FCP, so... so far changes do not impact my life.

Paypal ending return shipping this year is the real bummer. Especially for us on the west coast.

Do y'all seriously ship used oil filters back to FCP? I just assumed shipping prices would exceed the cost of new filter...

By itself, sure that wouldn't be worth it..but I order the full change kit which usually ships for around $20, so it's worth it versus the cost for the full change kit.

Well, if you dissasemble it and jam it between the oil containers it's basically shipping for free.

Think I saw that orders before 11/1 are grandfathered in under the old policy.

I understand why, but it's a shame and I won't be buying as much from FCP now. At least this is for orders made after 11/1/22. And the way I'm reading it, that means the original order, not the replacement. Though, the next replacement purchase refunded will be store credit.

For example, I'll be ordering a set of B8s soon. About $8xx from fcp, but now I'll order from another vendor at $7xx. I don't want $800 of store credit in the future.

I'm hoping that refers to the original part purchase, not the replacement. Though, like I said above, the replacement for the replacement will be store credit.

Damn, I didn't know about the PayPal return shipping. That is truly a bummer.

But agreed with the sentiments of others here. I'll still order stuff from FCP, but I'll just be using store credit instead of my CC for a lot of it now.
