last time i plugged it in (car not running), my inlet was 0, but I don't have csl software.
You do not need the engine to be running, ignition should be in position 2. As to when to run the test I do not know, my GUESS is that when you get back from a drive and read adaptions its simply what was stored in the computer up until the point you shut the engine off.
Off hand an inlet adaptation value of 0 would seem to be a good thing, a nicely timed engine. Mine was 0, but I also had an inlet error due to incorrectly set cam offset values by Kassel.

Your ignition adapts look good, no timing being pulled so that's a bonus too.
OK Martyn, I just can't help it, I have to pick your brain again and confirm one thing so I can sleep.

Are these the correct offset values for US Cams? These are the values I flashed:

Also, as I understand the Vanos can adapt up to 8°, so does that mean you may see a reading as high as 8.0, or as low as -8.0 on your adaptations?
Is -4.30 considered "out of spec."? If so and assuming I have the correct offsets accounted for what would I look into? Physical enigne timing at that point or is there more to it?
Thanks Martyn, you've been such a big help.

I ask because I was under the impression that zero meant a problem, that the closest to zero you would ever get is .1.

Yeah man, I'm sure Martyn or someone that knows will chime in. What he said about the 0 value and the fact you have a value of 0 is curious.
After I reset my offsets I can't say I noticed any difference in the way the car drove. I thought MAYBE it was ever so slightly slower. So when my inlet was NOT adapting compared to now after the reset when my inlet IS adapting I have yet to tell a difference just from driving around, although I have only driven it for about 30 minutes since I flashed it.
Do you have DIS so you could run a Vanos test?
My big thing was the error code, I'll have to keep on eye out, the laptop rides shotgun now.

A true 0 might be possible, but it seems unlikely to actually occur in real life. If you have no error codes, then it very well could just be the cam is spot on.

Ya, that might be the case as the engine runs flawlessly in general, never any codes. exh # was only 2, so I suppose inlet could actually be zero. Thanks Terra. I'll pull the numbers again after a drive, see if there are changes.

I wish my inlet vanos adaption was zero with no errors, no fair!

Haha thanks, but let me do another read after a new drive (in the middle of a detail).

Dumb question...I just ran a VANOS test with the car cold (hasn't ran for about a week) and it came out as -1.49 intake and 1.1 exhaust. So I'm good to go, correct? Or do I need to warm it up?

I believe in the DIS, it states that the engine needs to be at a certain temp. I'd perform the test at operating temperature.

Edit: Engine oil temp > 40C Coolant temp > 75C

I just pulled adaptation values. Could not get the oil up to full temp because track car. 170 is about as high as it gets idling and 45 degrees outside.

Looks like I’ve got some pretty good numbers! I better since I retimed it 5 times.

                            Hi,

Would anyone be able to help me with this too?
I have a ttfs "CSL tune" and I'm in the EU. I'm having timing issues, but I'm sure it's not timed wrong.
Could be that it's setup for US CSL cams?

                            Any chance someone could help?

I’m believe the CSL cams have different offsets which would cause an issue.

I had CSL cam offsets which caused a code and failed vanos test post-tune. Read back in this thread, Martyn explains how to change CSL offsets to US.
