Sell the E46. Doesn't sound like you were ever that in love with it. It speaks to many of us. But the ugly, big, heavy, numb e92 with v8 & dct speaks to a lot of other types of car enthusiasts too.

To me it sounds like you have 3 daily drivers and the E46 is the worst out of them as a daily driver so sell the E46. I wouldn't mod the E46 to make it more exciting to drive because that's not what you're after, the E46 is already the most exciting to drive as it's a stick and the most analog feeling. You're most concerned with the noise and the E46 is never going to sound like the v8 in your e92.

No, but with a csl airbox it will sound better 😜

IMO there aren't many cars that are as fun as a well sorted e46. Airbox/ Eventuri intake, headers, tune, suspension etc. transform the car. I've driven a 0 option (comp pack) manual e92 with catless exhaust, tune and eventuri plenum, it just feels sloppier and not as fun. But in your case, it's going to take a big chunk of money to get there with the e46 especially with the maintenance in mind. If your situation can justify it then it's worth the reward. I don't blame people who aren't surprised by a stock e46.

no need to hate on the e92 lol.

I like both cars but I have automobile attention deficit disorder and I know others who also suffer from this. I would love a GT350 but don’t want to spend 40K for one.

This is what encourages me to do some mods and see what happens. I’m thinking about Valve adjustment, Beisan vanos treatment and headers for a start. That would be a decent mix of mods and maintenance for the car without breaking the bank.

I just gonna say this: you don't have to buy again what you already own.
Too many times I have sold a car just to realize it was a dumb move and then pay more to get same (as in same model) car back. If its a good car - keep it.

I'd trust Ericsmg in SD saying gt350 was a mistake. You can do a lot worse than modded e46/e9x Ms.

Similar situation... have a 2009 E93 M3 and 2003 E46 M3 coupe. Was going to keep both, but ended up recently selling the E93. I've had it for 6 years and it was a blast. The noise it makes it absolutely intoxicating (Corsa axle back). Only mod. The E46 has 55k, is in mint condition and I just love that car. Always have. (just picked it up a month ago). To each their own. Do what feels right. I miss the E93, but the E46, for me is the most fun to drive and look at. Space was my issue as well. I also have a 2006 E90 330i 6 sp. I daily and a truck. Yes, very understanding wife, but only to a point.

He didn’t have a gt350. He had the regular gt.

They’re different cars. It’s like judging an M3 based on how a ZHP drove.

Haven't driven a 350, but they're pretty different. 5.2L flat plane v8, upgraded suspension, brakes, gearbox, wheels, etc.
