    differential cover bushings available separately?

i am doing a refresh of the rear end in my wagon project. want a smooth daily driver ride (my red sedan has all AKG red 75d poly subframe/diff with AKG monoball rtab and AKG FCABs) on the wagon project im going to be running brand new BMW subframe bushings with Synchro design rtab. I wanted to run brand new BMW diff bushings but can only find the part# for the front forward diff busing in the axle carrier. i cant seem to find the ones in the diff cover other than buying a brand new cover. is that correct? you have to buy a whole new cover just to get new OE diff cover bushings?

E36M3 diff bushings are a direct fit with a press.

so you can purchase e36 m3 rear diff cover bushings (which are a direct fit to the e46 m3 cover) separately but not the e46 m3 ones. got it.

e36 ones are softer, so a performance downgrade (probably NHV upgrade).

If you want new stock, the only option is a new cover. Other than the e36 bushings, everything you can press in in place of stock is a huge NHV penalty.

I use AKG bushings. Works great and easy to install.

Same here, I'm on the 95A ones and no noticeable NVH at all.

                You have zero gear whine?

What subframe bushings are you running?

Poly diff with poly subframe has almost no whine in my experience. I used Revshift subframe and ECS diff in my old car.

                  Sorry for off-topic, OP.

Dubious claim. I had a significant increase in whine, but am fine with it as it's most pronounced at freeway speeds I seldom use, plus I added more sound insulation under rear bench. I'm perfectly happy with the AKG, mind.

Has anyone measured this? What makes us think they’re softer?

Yes, someone measured them back on m3f.

Interesting… I got them as a clunk riddance device because they were plug and play fit. Dayenu. I had no idea there was a difference in material. I wonder why. Most engineers would simply carry over the part.
