    Gutted muffler thread?

I was following that gutted stock muffler thread on M3forum but forgot about it, not realizing until the forum died. Wish I could read it still. What was the general consensus with how it turned out for people?

One of the best video of debaffled section 3:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YfbZ...ature=youtu.be

and a few posts about it:
    https://forums.m3cutters.co.uk/threa...baffle.199357/

The first post with 2 pictures is the actual unit that I've bought from a member on M3forum; debaffled & straight piped chamber 3 and 4 I believe.

Tone wise, it sounds extremely similar to stock but when you romp on it, it does bark at a volume level that is significantly higher than stock; Overall no drone at cruising.

I gutted my stock muffler and am pretty happy with it. Ended up opening it up like five times before I found a combination that I liked.

Here's a video of how it sounds. Stock US headers, two OEM resonators in section 1, stock section 2, modified muffler.

Thanks man! That picture is exactly like what I want to do. Welds look great too. I'm tired of this Gruppe M sec 3 I have on. It's loud and not good for around town, even with Euro Headers/Sec 1.

BTW any idea on the weight difference between stock vs gutted?

If volume control is what you are seeking, then this would be a good path to pursue.

I might be the minority but I
do like the stock muffler look as well haha

Weight difference is negligible as the modified unit was equally heavy to the stock unit I have taken off.

                I couldn't feel a difference after gutting.

Thanks man. I see you're located in the Bay (where my car is although i'm working abroad at the moment). Did you get a shop in the Bay to do the exhaust work? If so could you recommend it to me? From your video your setup sounds great.

Thanks! I actually picked this up as a "learn to weld" project, however any decent exhaust shop should be able to do this without a problem.
