    Spark plug gap?

The spark plugs come pre-gapped but is the actual gap specified in any BMW documentation?

If you buy correct plugs for S54, they come properly pre-gapped to .032 inches.
    BKR6EQUP (NGK-3199)

BKR6EQUP (NGK-3199) a.k.a. Laser Platinum - This is the stock plug for E46s. It has has four ground electrodes, two primary, two secondary. Primary is gapped differently from secondary and why you shouldn't regap. The plug randomly fires to these gaps thereby reducing carbon build up or fouling. Again, this plug is pregapped and should not be adjusted. Yes, you will notice each of the four electrodes has a slightly different gap, this is by design.

The S54 spark plug is DCPR8EKP and they are pre-gapped.

        .032 like Texas said.

Original plugs were double electrode platinum pre gapped to .032. Ngk iirc. Not Bosch.

Four grounds, are for non-M E46, IIRC.

            NGK - DCPR8EKP

Tex has like 5 cars and one of his other cars might use the ones he quoted.

Thanks, I found this on the NGK USA website.

I've been using these because it has been mentioned that Platinum are good for 40k miles and Iridium are good for 60k miles.

These only appear to have one earthing point as far as i can tell.

Yup, I honestly thought I was posting reply on M5Board! Sorry about that, was early morning, not enough coffee.
DCPR8EKP is correct for S54, not the other one I posted in the first post. That was for S62.
