Help me finally choose my coilover setup

You won't be disappointed. You can rest easy knowing you have one of the best setups. But, I'd still play with it. I'd get plates with 2.5" seats and move down to 325 (lb), 336 (6kg) or 343 (60n/mm) 7" tall (170-200mm). The 400lb front springs are a bit much imo.DD: /// 2011.5 Jerez/bamboo E90 M3 · DCT · Slicktop · Instagram

Opportunity to save around 2lbs per side on the front:

That's the plan but I'll run the stock mounts first then will be able to compare the difference in feel switching to plates.
Thinking to just go with Ohlins plates from 3dm, they look exactly like Vorshlags but less $. and I'll actually have customer support as opposed to something from Turner.

Let me get this straight….You had a set of JRZ RS2 dampers and went to Ohlins R&T? Uhhh yeah that’s a downgrade.
All you needed to do was make sure those JRZs were good and purchase some “street” springs and camber plates. I’m not sure if many realize but a really high quality set dampers will ride like butter when setup correctly. It’s wild because they can ride like an aggressive caddy on the street and handle like a train on rails when dialed up.2005 E46 ///M3 Interlagos Blue

For context….I run currently run TTX Pro on my m4 GTS and JRZ Motorsport series 11 on the e46 m3. Ive tried A LOT of other suspension setups in the past ie Koni, KW Clubsport 3W, AST 5200, JRZ RS1 RS2 2WR, MCS 1WNR 2WNR 2WR, Moton 2WR (before those guys left and created MCS).Last edited by Projecte46m3; 08-22-2024, 06:58 PM.2005 E46 ///M3 Interlagos Blue

What’s your point? Because it’s a twin tube design means it’s not high end?? Not all twin tube designs are created equal. There is a huge difference between a Koni twin tube design and other high end offerings. The Ohlins TTX and Penske race shocks are both a twin tube design and are above and beyond the Ohlins R&T monotube design.

From my understanding the JRZ were better suited for the track in our ( cobra ) testing. The other thing is the rebuild interval is very short. Dialing the kit in from scratch wasn't going to be as easy as you made it seem(or maybe I would've gotten lucky). Not a ton of data points to go off from others and all the little bits(rear adjusters, bump stops etc) add up in $$.

As you know, there is a difference between these brands' consumer grade offerings and their motorsports offerings. The TTX and JRZ motorsports shocks are indeed very nice, and they also cost $8 to $9k. You cannot compare a TTX to a Koni/RS2/etc because they operate in completely different ways, even though yes, they both have two tubes.2005 E46 ///M3 Interlagos Blue
