2002 E46 M3 6MT vacuum Leak overhaul part list

I have a 2002 M3 6MT with 120k miles on the clock, while doing the smoke test, i notice some smoke coming out. Things are getting old and I want to replace ALL plastic hose and rubbers as a preventive maintenance.
So I build a list here. Please feel free to list anything related to vacuum leak parts while I am doing the job.

Also I am taking this opportunity to seek for low-cost replacement because small section of BMW FPM fuel-grade hose like these for $110+ is just outrageous. I was hoping I can also document a full list with what can be replaced by generic FPM heavy duty fuel-grade line / adjustable hose clamp to keep the cost low.

Yes Thanks ! I already replaced it with 1/8" siliecone hose at the beginning of the season, but good call !

How and what equipment is required to perform the smoke test?

The plastic pipe (the first part you listed) from the crankcase to the bottom of the airbox becomes brittle.
Some have made a new pipe by using flexible hose and re-using the ends from the original pipe.

My experience is that s54s are not too sensitive to vacuum leaks if minor. You’d need to have a big one. I know this as I was running a Karb box with MAF and it was not tight, yet the car could be mapped just fine for fuel trims. I fixed it, but was never an issue I could note.

I bought a smoke tester from Amazon and it seems smoke are coming below the airbox, most likely either one of those I listed in my part list.
Might as well replace them all while I am there for the peace of mind.

During smoke test, I have very very light smoke coming below air intake box. I suspect it's the hose that connects to the oil pan with a check valve.
My STFT are very normal (within 4%), but LTFT is constantly high (>13%) without no CEL.
Since all the tubes are more than 22 years old, might as well replace all of them
i found the Genuine BMW tubes are skinny and flimsy, is there any robust solution to replace those skinny tube?

One good example is the crankcase ventilation hose that cracked, I replaced the hose with 5/8" heavy duty fuel hose and re-use the fitting with hose clamp.

any luck finding an equivalent hose? I’m in middle of replacing the quick connector to air rail and noticed cracking around the rubber hose so wanting to replace while I’m there. The top piece is 55 bucks on FCP, insane.

Ordered the Norma quick connector piece and the oetiker clamps, plan is to measure once it arrives and find the right ID hose. If you have the specs already and can share, would be much appreciated

What your MPG?

The hose under the airbox was uncliped when i bought the car, was lucky to get 12mpg, now that is clicked backed in, i am seeing 18mpg

Also i remember when i shut the engine off, and that hose under the airbox was unclipped, i could hear a hiss / psssh on shut down
