    Remote Damper Reservoir Mounting

    Hello All,
I recently purchased a set of JRZ RS Pro double adjustable dampers and am in the process of mounting the reservoirs nicely. The rears were pretty straightforward (see first two photos attached) and now I am on to brainstorming how to mount the front reservoirs as space is much more limited than in the rear.

I purschased JRZ reservoir mounts from Rennscot ( https://rennscot.com/collections/uni...s/products/rrm ) which made the install really easy and clean yet the front I had to make some room before I could think about mounting. I removed the secondary air pump and also the plastic 90 degree intake piece that connects the fresh air going through the grills to the air cleaner box. I believe there will be a nice way to make a bracket that mounts the reservoirs, while still being able to use the Rennscot mounts, to the black radiator cross member. I thought I would try reaching out to the forum to see if any one has experience with this or any ideas of nice mounting points.

I should mention that I would like to mount the reservoirs as close to the front of the car as I want to keep them as cool as possible. I did have the temporarily mounted to the strut bar and they get extremely hot in that location.

Please comment if you have any ideas or experience with mounting remote reservoirs.

    Thanks,
    Josh

Seems like most people mount them to the strut tower brace. If you’re looking to keep them out of the heat, probably not going to do much better than your current location.

JRZ does advise to have them mounted away from heat as much as possible.
I usually put the right one in the "drug bin" and the left one in between the ebox and master cylinder.

        Hi Kaiv,
Thank you for the feedback. I thought about the driver side location yet it looked so tight I wasnt sure if there would be hood clearance issues. Do you happen to have a photo of your installs?

BTW this is Josh from San Diego ( I now live in Monterey), I have the white E46 M3 that you've done work on before.

I took some measurements today and drafted the design below in SolidWorks. I am going to cut a test bracket this week on my plasma CNC to check fitment and am planning to use 3/16" thick aluminum plate.

I have my Moton remote reservoirs mounted underneath the kidney grills. They never get hot up there and are easily accessible.

              Hi Geoff,
A couple of questions on your setup. Do you have any photos of the location and how they are mounted? Ie. Zip ties, bracket, etc. also, how did you route them?
Do you know how long the high pressure lines are from your dampers to the reservoirs? My JRZ lines Are pretty short and will not reach the kidney grill area.

I figure the more information we can collect, the more we can help others in the future.

              thanks!

One on the fuse box and one in the drug bin - keeps it behind the firewall at least, and there really isn't much room to mount these in the engine bay cleanly!

Goodness, I'm going to have to get a set of external dampers just for the sex appeal.

From the perspective of keeping them cool, that seems hard to beat.

I got around to installing the brackets I made on my CNC plasma cutter. As mentioned before, I used the brackets in conjunction with the Rennscot remote reservoir mounts to get everything mounted. I think it came out really nice and they clear the hood perfectly. If anyone is interested in a set, I would be willing to make more.

I quite like that! How did you secure them in the tray?

Any reason not to mount them in the interior? Should be cooler in there.

Hose length and no holes in the firewall.
