Lexan Windows are Now at Carbon Microsystem!

We are excited to announce the expansion of our product range and the launch of our own production of Lexan (polycarbonate) windows, perfectly suited for our carbon fiber doors and beyond!

We stepped slightly away from our main focus to offer you another ideal solution for weight reduction and increased safety:

Each window weighs just 2.1 kg, which is more than half the weight of a standard window (4.5 kg)! This is a significant boost to your car's dynamics.

Every window is cut on a high-precision CNC machine according to a ready-made template, guaranteeing a perfect shape. After cutting, we process the edges and apply the necessary curvature to ensure a flawless fit.

Thanks to their incredible strength and flexibility, Lexan windows are ideal for motorsport, but they can also be used on daily driven cars.

Available for Order: BMW E46 and E92

Very curious to see the weight difference for that! It might even need weaker hatch shocks.

On my CSL trunk, I run only one of the two struts for just that reason.

Have the windows been tested at speed? Lexan is not nearly as stiff as glass and it could be horribly annoying for street driving. And are the windows coated? Lexan will haze up over time due to scratching. Especially putting it up and down and having dust and dirt along the window seal.

                    The weight difference was this.
                    Original rear hatch 12.5kg
                    Carbon Fiber rear hatch 2.5kg

If the glass isn't standard but Lexan, then I think you'll need weaker shock absorbers.

My car has these types of windows, and I haven't had any problems at speed.

Yes, they're less rigid than glass and easier to scratch, but their purpose is completely different. In this case, we're talking about weight and strength. Each type of glass has its pros and cons, and everyone chooses what's most important to them.
