My has just arrived, thank you so much for the fast turnaround!!

I understand the tranny bracket and the spacer to the long bracket... but how does that brack connect to the clamp that holds the exhaust pipe?

It looks like your end looks different than mine

It almost looks like he bent the tip of it into the strap and held it in place by clamping it down. I had the same question though, thanks for the test fit and assembly.

you’ll have to confirm which length you bought for the screws since there was a range provided.

Yep, bend to fit! This way it’s compatible with both pipe diameters, and can accommodate the rather crappy SS manufacturing tolerances.

It should easily bend with a vice or two pairs of big pliers. I used two pairs of knipex parallel pliers (greatest tool ever) to bend mine to fit in situ.

Either screw length and anything in between should work. 20mm length screws will allow for washers at the bracket interface, if you like using washers (I did) as 16mm is just a hair short to pass the ‘looks right’ test. Either length should work into the gearbox

Hmmm... I'm thinking of ordering another small bracket. As I look at the piece, I wonder if I weld it to the side of the drivers side clamp, the use the third small bracket to marry both sides together.

            Thoughts?

Permanently joining supersprint pipes will make them nearly impossible to remove, but if you plan to do something temporary or removable, go for it. Be cautious, thermal expansion is one hell of a force, so if you don’t design your joining parts and weld points properly, you can chase failing welds for a long time.

I meant i could weld to the clamp in the pic (which is can remove, and the use the third space to bolt the 2 clamps together, like the other 2 in the system. Are you saying there may be a problem doing that?

Also, I'm trying to test fit now. Did you have to make the hole that attaches to the tranny wider (like longer)? I can't seem to get the holes to line up.

Uh oh. I designed two versions of this bracket, the first one didn’t fit perfectly. I may have inadvertently linked everyone to the first design. Yes, you’ll need to make the slot deeper to fit. Damn, I’m sorry everyone.

No worries man - it happens. Any chance you might be able to upload v2? I’ll order the correct bracket to save the hassle during install and see if those guys can include the extra bracket with my order from yesterday that doesn’t ship until 12/11

                      No worries!

Can you link to the updated bracket and I'll order that? I'll order the extra small clamp bracket too.

Bumping... just seeing if I can order the most up to date bracket

I see you guys. Very busy with work at the moment. Took a bit of time to build a package that was a one click order.

The bracket in my car is the same one that needed manual modification, so it is possible to make it fit for those that have ordered and own a grinder, Dremel, etc.

edit: the easy way to modify would be drilling a new hole on the driver’s side, making a sort of infinity symbol. This may have been the approach I took, memory is weak. It can be free handed with a 9mm, 11/32 or 3/8” drill bit.

Bry5on - thanks for the extra pictures. Should be easy enough to widen those holes out.

Did you brace Section 2 anywhere? I have the twin-tube resonated Section 2, and it rattles quite a bit. I transferred the plate from the stock exhaust over, if that makes a difference. I assumed the hangers were worn out, so I replaced them with new ones, but I’m wondering if it’s worth bracing Section 2 also.

No extra section 2 bracing. It’ll have less of an effect for sure, but my setup is using a non-M muffler so it shouldn’t really translate to the majority of folks with M3 shaped mufflers and section 2s. Also, the H-pipe and resonator themselves are super effective bracing, so there’s not much extra to be had if you ask me.

edit: think of wiggling a piece of dry spaghetti. Wiggling it from the end produces a whip effect at the other end. Supporting it in the middle and wiggling both will substantially reduce the whipping. The further toward the end you support it, the incrementally smaller the gains will be. You basically want to keep it tight near the headers and support it as far back to the gearbox as possible. Everything after the gearbox moves independently so you have less of a chance to make a big impact.
