I just ordered one. Now on backorder with no ETA. And yes, the price was comparatively low.

Climate comfort glass, which my car did not come with, is also BO without an ETA. The windshield for vehicles without a rain sensor is readily available.

Just placed an order for a rain sensing/green strip windshield supposedly "in stock", somehow I doubt it.

I have ordered from this place before and they listed items in stock and sat on my money for weeks until I contacted them only to find they didn't have the item.

Hopefully worst case I can find a good used windshield as I really need one and have put it off.

You can always get a non rain sensor windshield and glue the prism on.

Ordered a non rain sensor IR windshield a couple days ago and just got refunded for my order . Reasoning was something about it being to fragile to ship. I knew $600 shipped to my door was too good to be true.

That's gonna take some getting used to. Hard to believe that my car is seen as an E30 was in 2012…

The RLS is the only code on my car, because the prism in my glass is all jacked up. Drives me nuts, even though this car doesn't see rain, hah. Where can you get just the prism? Got a link / part number? Thanks.

This was definitely to good to be true as well, $320 shipped, shouldn't have wasted my time.

Turns out I was late to the party. I was informed this morning that BMW rejected the order as the part is Disco'd.

Had him try and order the climate comfort glass. Guess we'll see tomorrow...

I don't think BMW sells the part, but there's aftermarket alternatives available. Search for "E46 K206 rain lens" on eBay.

There is a chance that glass shops can still get the OEM Pilkington glass without the BMW logo. Might be worth checking with them.

Oh boy, I'm glad I ordered mine when I did. Got mine for $353 from NW BMW in Tacoma, WA (just under $400 with tax and "local pickup" fee of $15, which is whatever). Comfort glass with rain sensor.

Is it certain that buying the ebay rain prizim will work or are these slightly uncharted waters?

I can get a non rain sensing windshield at my dealership for less than $500, I kind of want to hold out for what really need but also just want to get a windshield. Worst case I have an error, I don't really drive in the rain.

The rain and light sensor can easily be coded (not active) using NCSExpert.

Looks like the order for the climate comfort glass was accepted by BMW. I will provide an update when I know more.

I'm not even sure coding is needed. Without the rain and light sensor, if the LCM headlights setting is set to "auto" the lights just turn on with ignition on and off with ignition off (unless setting the LCM headlights to ON, which keeps them on regardless of the ignition setting). As for the rain sensor, when you click the windshield wiper stalk up one notch into "auto" mode, it just goes at a predetermined time, which you can adjust with the adjustment dial. So, not having the rain sensor isn't a big deal. Not having the light sensor is a bigger whomp whomp since the headlights end up on all the time but at least you won't forget to turn them off when you get out of the car quickly.
