Gruppe M vs Eventuri Intake System

Gruppe M vs Eventuri Intake System...

I know that the top of the tier would be the CSL intake system.. but on a lower budget Which do you guys prefer? And what are your experiences if you have purchased either of the 2?
    Thanks and stay safe!

IIRC gruppe M intake is like $2k? For that you might as well go full bore CSL. Eventuri can be had for way less than half that. I have not seen a lot of folks with gruppeM. Eventuri is nice with quieter exhaust, everyone swears by them as the best thing unless doing full CSL. I'm ok with mine - my exhaust is rather loud, I have not confirmed if it makes more power than stock intake and I don't really care much for the carbon bling.
    Youtube DIYs and more

All jobs done as diy - clutch, rod bearings, rear subframe rebush, vanos, headers, cooling, suspension, etc.

PM for help in NorCal. Have a lot of specialty tools - vanos, pilot bearing puller, bushing press kit, valve adjustment, fcab, wheel bearing, engine support bar, etc.

I previously had a CSL airbox, Dinan and Eventuri. To me Eventuri is the best way to go before going CSL. You can definitely hear a difference in sound with an Eventuri, I would say maybe 60% close to CSL.

I had the TMS knock-off version of the Gruppe M, and it def provided a small gain over the factory intake...but if my only choice today was between the two, I would prolly go w/the Eventuri. The Gruppe M knock-offs can be had for about a 1/4 of the price of the real thing btw.

Isn't the new Turner CSL type intake similar to price, if not lower than the Eventuri?

Negative, Eventuri is around $900 and no tune required. TMS group buy price was/is around $1250 plus hardware/tune so putting your around $1700.

Stupid question here. Other than looking awesome and being lighter, what's stopping someone from copying the CSL intake shape and making it out of a material that's cheaper than carbon fiber? Seems like that could be a good option for people who don't really care how it looks and are mostly after the sound.

You can cut the oem manifold and just add a KN filter

Eventuri is great for the money. Sound good, looks good and a decent performance upgrade. Get the new Bespoke filter if you end up buying the Eventuri.

Hassan has actually cut the stock airbox open and retrofit the CSL filter and a new inlet mainly for power to remove the inlet choke point and the MAF. The basic difference is in the pic below. Def possible. A lot of folks also get it for the sound since CF of certain thickness will resonate and make the car sound like a supercar. Ah, I didn't realize it was the carbon fiber that was the source of the sound. It's becoming more and more tempting every day to fork over the money for this...but I don't think it's the best use of money on my 154k mile car right now.

Well first I wouldn't pay the list price for the GruppeM intake. I bought mine for much less on sale. Like mentioned the knock-offs that TMS had were pretty good duplicating their design. Think the company that made them for TMS starting selling on eBay and have seen them there. I have not used that one so can't give feedback on that one's quality.
The Eventuri is basically an open air reverse-cone intake inside the engine bay. imho they failed on a couple things in design. First being the stock air intake above radiator isn't utilized unlike the larger improved upon GruppeM scoop. Also the GruppeM uses the bottom snorkel for another direct air intake. Both of these take air from outside and not "open" with varying pressure drops.

The sound (someone mentioned above) from the Eventuri is more likely from it being open air and not enclosed like the GruppeM. Both are CF. GruppeM also had a Kevlar material one, Charlie has that one on his M3, I have the CF one.
