Unless you're behind on maintenance you will not regret the CSL intake. Best thing I've done to the car hands down.2002 Topasblau M3 - Coupe - 6MT - Karbonius CSL Airbox - MSS54HP Conversion - SSV1 - HJS - Mullet Tune - MK60 Swap - ZCP Rack - Nogaros - AutoSolutions - 996 Brembos - Slon - CMP - VinceBar - Koni - Eibach - BlueBus - Journal

Bought my car back in November and while the previous owner had taken great care of it, the only preventative maintenance done was the VANOS. Rod bearings and a bunch of small/medium projects are done now, but subframe reinforcement and a cooling refresh are up next on my list. It's been a fantastic project car and I bought it for the right price, but I've got some work to do before I can be sure the car will be with me for years to come. After that happens I'll definitely consider the CSL intake. It'll be interesting to see how people like the TMS intake, seems like the most cost effective option right now.Originally posted by heinzboehmer View Post

Their price has gone down it appears. Still expensive at $1,380 but also much more to it than the Eventuri kit.Originally posted by mrgizmo04 View PostIIRC gruppe M intake is like $2k? For that you might as well go full bore CSL. Eventuri can be had for way less than half that. I have not seen a lot of folks with gruppeM. Eventuri is nice with quieter exhaust, everyone swears by them as the best thing unless doing full CSL. I'm ok with mine - my exhaust is rather loud, I have not confirmed if it makes more power than stock intake and I don't really care much for the carbon bling.6MT SLICKTOP - OE CSL Wheels - OE CSL Brakes - CSL Rack - CSL Trunk - CSL Diffuser - AA Tune - AA Pulleys- AS 40% SSK - 4.10 Motorsport Diff - Bilstein PSS9s - H&R Swaybars - CSL Lip - Gruppe M CF Intake - Supersprint - M Track Mode

Doing anything at the price of $1K it's mostly for CF bling and agree it's proabably smarter to save up for a CSL intake kit.Originally posted by Tigerbimmer View PostNot the popular opinion but personally sticking with stock until I can pull the trigger on a CSL-type intake.

No experience but probably going with Eventuri pretty soon. I don't mind 2x price for a high quality CSL rep piece, but two factors: 1. I don't want this to become a project I have to "make" work, or have to modify more stuff. I did an MCS 2 way remote suspension early last year, getting those cannisters into the trunk and engine bay... all I can say is I REALLY wish I'd payed for quick disconnects, a super PITA to do. If I'd have known, I'd have gladly spent whatever the disconnects cost. This year, header install WITH cats AND I kept the harnesses US OE, so I had to extend the O2 wires, ANOTHER major PITA. I just want an intake I can put in. The second part is the drivability problems many folks have, and several really bright folks have tried to solve with no consistent results. If I spent that coin and the car wouldn't drive smooth. I'd probably rip it out and stomp on it at this point! If there is a completely trouble free CSL intake that doesn't require alpha-n, that would be of interest. Does that exist yet?

Stock CSL tune with the Kassel MAP sensor kit is as close to plug and play as you can get. Install airbox, replace MAF with MAP and IAT sensors, and flash CSL software. Haven't had any driveability issues with this setup on my car.Originally posted by RedM3/4 View PostNo experience but probably going with Eventuri pretty soon. The only hard part about my install was doing the DME hardware conversion as my car did not have an HP DME.2002 Topasblau M3 - Coupe - 6MT - Karbonius CSL Airbox - MSS54HP Conversion - SSV1 - HJS - Mullet Tune - MK60 Swap - ZCP Rack - Nogaros - AutoSolutions - 996 Brembos - Slon - CMP - VinceBar - Koni - Eibach - BlueBus - Journal

I'm not sure if you kept your cats because of emissions testing in your area but if so I would not suggest a CSL intake conversion then. Just a lot more work to reinstall than the others. GruppeM and Eventuri are both easily and completely reversible.Originally posted by RedM3/4 View PostNo experience but probably going with Eventuri pretty soon. I have the GruppeM and would not swap it for the Eventuri. Only if I wanted more possible sound from the open cone engine bay. Design wise the GruppeM has more to it and is a better design imho. Hard to find lately for the E46 M3. Price wise I see why some will go with Eventuri.

You asking about their CSL box?Originally posted by RajjyP View PostWhat are the thoughts on the evolve eventuri intake?Youtube DIYs and more
All jobs done as diy - clutch, rod bearings, rear subframe rebush, vanos, headers, cooling, suspension, etc.
PM for help in NorCal. Have a lot of specialty tools - vanos, pilot bearing puller, bushing press kit, valve adjustment, fcab, wheel bearing, engine support bar, etc.

I kept them so the car should pass smog/inspection anywhere but CA and NJ, maybe a couple others, and because with 200 cell cats, little to no loss, less smell, etc. And the way I did it, if anyone wants to go back to stock, no harnesses to mess with. So, no, passing smog isn't an issue.
On the intake, not too worried about reversal if things fit well. But the ones requiring Alpha N tune. Some have trouble, some don't, but when they do, it's not easily solved; this is what I want no part of.
The non-CSL Eventuri yeilds about 14hp w/no tune, 29 with a tune. For a quality CSL style new, not sure what other parts you need, i expect you MUST do a tune for the car to run right (I'm kind of ok with that, will end up with a tune anyway, but it does make it a "must do it now" with the CSL box).
How much more do you get out of nearly 2x price, another 5hp, 10 tops?

Of the threee choices I would go CSL and Alpha tune for most power.Originally posted by RedM3/4 View PostThe non-CSL Eventuri yeilds about 14hp w/no tune, 29 with a tune. If you're asking me the power differece between the Eventuri and GruppeM I'd say yes probably under 5 Hp difference. *Depending on car and dyno. The notes I recall, EAS (or was it TMS?) had their dyno testing show ~15Whp start about 7000rpm. Which is very optomistic to me. All these companies have very optimistic numbers imho.

Of course they are optimistic. Remember, to sell products, they need to show numbers outside of just pretty CF to look at. They strap the test car to a dyno, point 50 cyclone-generating fans right into the intake opening and say, here is what you can expect daily driving - 10-20hp difference, PROVEN.Originally posted by oldFanatic View PostOf the threee choices I would go CSL and Alpha tune for most power.
