    "Budget" lightweight battery

I've been very interested in getting a lithium battery for the car to drop a signifiant amount of weight. I've held off because my AGM battery is in good health and a $1000 for a H6 size battery is a lot.
I know many forum members are big fans of a couple brands. After doing some evening research I decided to purchase a "budget" brand lithium battery. The specs are what I was looking for.
It claims to have an intelligent BMS, but it's not likely to be on par with the top shelf brands. I will say that I work in an industry that uses Lithium batteries and the tech as well as pricing has
changed a lot in the past 2-3 years.

As you can see in the photos it's the Mighty Max H6. I paid $279.
I installed it and weighed both the old AGM battery and this new lithium.

Might Max H6 weighs 14 lbs
Duralast Platinum AGM is 48 lbs

34 lbs of weight savings for $279 seems pretty good to me.

I also like that it fits exactly like a standard battery and doesn't need a new bracket.

    Lemme know what y'all think.

Very appealing at that price point.

Would removing that much weight from the rear right side of the car throw off the balance?

      On a street car? No.

      On a corner-balanced car? Yes.

Looks like the H5 spec version at 700cca and 9.2 pounds is $230.

Wonder if that would get the job done?

It probably would. But for $40 and 3lb claimed weight gain you get twice the Ah and reserve. And it fits perfectly in the battery tray.

Who makes the battery and where is it made?

I'm asking from a "will it suddenly catch fire" perspective 🙂

If it's a quality piece, that is extremely appealing. Nice find.

Braille had a sale on batteries recently FWIW. I picked up a group size 35 lithium ion battery for $599.
