Strut Mounts not available- options?

This is such a subjective thing. I am on Vorshlag plates, and I will say that I believe the dampers and springs make a bigger difference to NVH than the plates. My .02

Are you on Ohlins as well? I plan to drive my car on the street for many more years, I'm generally pretty tolerant but obviously don't want to increase NVH if I can help it. I haven't seen much negative feedback on the Vorshlags, whether for street or track (let's be real - most people drive these cars on the street at least a bit, and usually way more than they do on track)

Hamburg Technic (HT, the chinese mounts) are crap, but they do last 15-20k miles no issues. If you use them with OE upper perch and bearing, they are fine. Maybe get that and wait till replacements are available?

I am on TCK DA's, and I would say my car is pretty firm, but not harsh. And yes, it sees more road miles than track miles, but the road miles have decreased a bunch the last couple of years. I am going to fix that.

I don't see Millway talked about much in the E46 community, but I have a friend who's very happy with his on an F87. Could be another option.

Millway makes some very good parts. I run most of their stuff on the E46.

They actually helped Ohlins make the caster plates for the E46 TTX

The Vorshlags use a much larger bearing than other similar plates such as the TC Kline plates. I don't think the Vorshlags would cause any additional NV...maybe some H. The only downside to the Vorshlag might be use in really dirty/dusty/ conditions such as driving in snow and road salt.

As Tbonem3 mentioned, spring rates will have a big impact on ride quality. I've said it many times, flat ride is the way to go. It seems counterintuitive to all of the longstanding BMW norms which is a 100lb heavier rear spring. My track car rode great until the shocks have mostly given up...they are 14 years and 80k miles old.

I also need a left side strut mount. I’m doing a full suspension refresh on my e46 M3. And the only part missing is the left side strut mount. I purchased all my parts from bimmerworld.
I purchased sachs struts and shock which are supposedly original replacements from what the rep at bimmerworld told me.

Any thoughts on that?

Well yes, sachs are stock dampers and they're pretty shit, but they'll be fine for a little while.

Maybe look on ebay for a used strut mount or look at an aftermarket maker like Meyle, hamburg technic, Uro, et al - they won't last 80k, but they might do well enough for a while.
